Zooey Deschanel's beauty look is almost as recognizable as her bubbly attitude and soft-spoken temperament. Ever since she starred in (500) Days of Summer, we've come to expect long, curled hair complete with a set of thick face-framing bangs. It's kind of her thing. Or at least we thought it was. Yesterday she took to Instagram to debut a brand-new and totally surprising haircut. In fact, it left us wondering, "Who's that girl?" (If you're not a fan of her TV show New Girl, that was a sad attempt at referencing her character, Jess. But I digress.) Instead of the long and slightly mussed-up curls we've come to know and love, she shared a selfie of her new prim and proper cut. Surprisingly, she's the latest celeb to join the lob club in Hollywood.
She posted this photo, captioning it, "Meant to post this weeks ago: thanks @mararoszak for my big time hair cut!" Big time haircut, indeed. What was once long and flowy is now trimmed to just above shoulder-length. But don't you New Girl fans worry because her signature bangs are still as intact.
Her hairstylist, Mara Roszak, who also works with celebs like Brie Larson, Emma Stone, and Cara Delevingne, posted the same photo but captioned it "#NouvelleVague #60s." It certainly does have a retro influence. When we first saw it, it reminded us of the hairstyle actress Sharon Tate used to sport. We must say, it definitely looks flattering on Deschanel. Plus, it's fitting since she regularly wears vintage-inspired clothing.
It seems like all new moms in Hollywood are going for a lob haircut. Lauren Conrad was the most recent celeb to make the chop after the birth of her son, Liam. Before her, there was Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kim Kardashian West, and Beyoncé, who all went for similar styles. Welcome to the lob club, Zooey.
