Whether you've overslept or feel like being supremely lazy for the day (or week—we're not judging), effortless waves are always a go-to. But the effortless part can be harder to achieve than you’d imagine. Often this means reaching for a styling tool and having to figure out just exactly how to wind your hair around a curling iron to get it to look like a Victoria's Secret model's mane. This requires plenty of time, elbow grease, and hair product—hardly effortless, if you ask us.
Lucky for you, we've conjured up some incredibly easy tips to create the waves of your dreams with very minimal effort and skill required. These steps are also perfect for summer, considering no heat is required, so you can style away without feeling like you're in an oven. So, are you ready to create beachy bombshell hair in no time? Keep scrolling for five effortless wave hacks (cheaters welcome).
Post-shower, let your hair air-dry, then keep your locks in two braids during your commute. Moments before walking into work, take the braids out and spritz a wave spray (we love Unite's Beach Day Texturizing Spray, $25). Your co-workers won't have a clue that you didn't lift a finger.
Before your beauty sleep, pull your hair into a ponytail at the top of your head and place the ends into Conair's Hair Bun Maker ($2), tucking sections of hair over the outer surface until all of it is secured. Sleep on it, and wake up to loose waves.
If you're running late to work and have to go in with sopping wet hair, don't fret—a 15-minute break will suffice. Go to the bathroom and dampen your hair. Separate your strands into six sections, and twirl each section into a coil. Secure all six coils with a bobby pin, and then release them for a gorgeous, messy mane. Spritz in a little of this texturizing spray while you're at it to encourage more curl.
Waiting on your car service before a GNO? Run a dollop of this styling cream through wet or dry hair, and then tightly twirl nine or 10 sections of your hair. Run your fingers through the coils before it's time to head out, and you'll have perfectly tousled hair.
