We’re over half way through the year, and I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling tired, run down, and need to spend some time re-focusing on myself. My favourite way to wind down? A visit at Venustus, in Sydney’s Paddington for some ‘me’ time. By now, you would know how much the Byrdie Australia team loves Venustus. From its relaxing massages, to organic product lines and crystal healing, it’s the perfect place to recharge your batteries, focused on healing and bespoke treatments.
I recently visited the space to indulge in its new Crystal Cryotherapy 90 Minute Facial ($329). What makes this 90-minute facial so special? It offers more than just visual improvements, incorporating hot rock massage, French, Japanese, Hawaiian, and Swedish massage techniques, with a focus on face, neck, and décolletage.
Crystals are selected prior to your treatment and used throughout. A mixture of hot and cold jade rollers are used in lymphatic drainage movements to eliminate toxins, reduce puffiness, and stimulate circulation. This part of the facial is one I recreate for myself at home. I keep two jade rollers in the freezer, and after cleansing and exfoliating, apply this Venustus Eye and Lip Serum ($49) all over my face, and use the jade roller to help massage it into the skin. The cooling sensation immediately helps me feel rejuvenated.
In between the massage and crystal therapy, the facial incorporates an exfoliant peel (you determine what’s right for your skin together with your therapist), and the Venustus signature modelling mask. Now this part of the treatment really blew me away. Towards the end of the session, a clay mask is painted onto the face, neck, and top of the décolletage, and moulds like a cast onto your face. It’s hot, heavy, and infused with organic ingredients, that melt into the skin. I can honestly say, when it was removed after a few minutes, my skin has skin has never glowed harder.
Post-facial, I felt completely refreshed. My skin was dewy, and my body felt relaxed. I left determined to recreate the facial at home, and while there are elements you can certainly bring into your routine (like jade rolling), nothing beats the full experience.
