"For beachy texture, I like to use the PRO Beauty Tools 1” Professional Ceramic Shine Digital Straightener ($38) on the last three inches of the hair first—this assures that I won't over-curl the ends. The I go in with the PRO Beauty Tools 1” Professional X-Long Gold Curling Wand ($35) to wave the rest of the strand, creating the ultimate beach texture. Another tip: Alternate direction of each curl for a more deconstructed look," says Lavoy.
For even more of shaggy, textured wave, Lavoy suggests switching up your technique and tools: "Create vertical sections and alternate two irons like the PRO Beauty Tools Professional 1 1/4” Gold Curling Iron ($38) and PRO Beauty Tools Professional 1 1/2 ”Iridescent Curling Iron ($28). Keeping the iron vertical with the section, wrap the hair around the iron one and a half turns. While the hair is still in the iron, pull the iron straight down. The two different sizes will ensure that you have the right amount of bend and not too much curl."
