Here at Byrdie, we love a good lip gloss. And this year, Tower 28’s ShineOn Jelly Lip Gloss took home the 2020 Eco Beauty Award for Best Lip Gloss. These cult-favorite lip products are made with clean ingredients, deeply moisturizing, and pack on the right amount of shine without being sticky—everything you’d want in a gloss.
The ShineOn Jelly Lip Glosses were previously offered in six shades, but today Tower 28 is expanding its lineup to include four more colors. Their new ShineOn Milky Lip Jellies are inspired by the alternative milks many of us drink—a nod to the healthy, clean lifestyle that is core to the brand’s mission. The shades include oat (nude baby pink), cashew (nude mauve brown), coconut (rosy nude), and almond (nude true brown).
The idea for the alternative milk-inspired collection was born out of Tower 28’s founder Amy Liu’s own skincare dilemmas. “I've had chronic eczema my entire adult life, so I cut out dairy milk years ago because my skin disagrees with it,” Liu says. “Our new Milky Lip Jellies are a healthy alternative to conventional lip glosses, much like alternative milk is a go-to swap for dairy! The four shades were greatly inspired by the Tower 28 community, who love the non-sticky super shiny comfortable formula, but wanted them in milky nude shades.” Her favorite shade? Cashew, a color that she says reminds her of the '90s.
While some of the glosses are named after nuts, it’s important to note that no nut ingredients are present in the formulations. Instead, the glosses are crafted with a potent blend of five nourishing oils including apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, raspberry seed oil, rosehip oil, and castor oil. Together, these ingredients work to keep your lips hydrated all day long.
These ShineOn Milky Lip Jellies are also incredibly versatile. They can be applied to bare lips or over your favorite lip product to add a glossy, nude wash of color.
Bottom line: These new ShineOn Milky Lip Jellies are bound to be a hit like the first batch from the brand.
