Ah, the Tonys. Some refer to it as the Oscars for theater, but we think the star-filled, glamorous fête needs no comparison—and that’s not even including the musical numbers. This year, we’re keeping a keen eye on the red carpet for the most head-turning beauty looks from our favorite theater stars and Hollywood celebrities alike. As it turns out, there were plenty of notable beauty moments—from Carey Mulligan’s sleek, backswept lob to Tatiana Maslany’s blue liner to Pose star Indya Moore's swirly eye makeup. Keep scrolling to see all of the best beauty looks from this year’s 2018 Tony Awards. Oscars who?
Carey Mulligan showed up with a sleek, back-swept lob and curled-under ends—chic and understated. To achieve flawless hold while styling similar to the actress, Team Byrdie loves this flexible hairspray from Bumble and Bumble.
We love Sara Bareilles's loose, beachy waves and subtle smoky eye. Plus, for that one-part nude, one part peach flush, we'd personally reach for none other than our favorite blush from Nars. (It's appropriately called "Sex Appeal.)
Kerry Washington was a dream in silver, complete with silky-sleek strands and a nude lip–smoky eye combo we'd gladly copy.
For straight, ultra sleek strands with all the drama of Washington's, we recommend T3's cult-loved iron which somehow manages to deliver simultaneous shine and volume. (We're not sure how, but we're definitely not questioning its talent.)
Pose star Indya Moore played it the opposite of safe with face jewels, a ruby lip, and statement eye makeup. We love. (For that amazing teal eye, try dipping your eyeshadow brush into this epic eyeshadow palette from Natasha Dedona.
We typically don't see many hot pink lips on the red carpet, but we love the way Brosnahan's bright lip pops with her vibrant floral dress.
We haven't confirmed, but if we had to guess our simulate the look using a favorite from our own arsenal, it would be this beloved lips stain from Yves Sait Laurent. Both the pigment and finish are phenomenal. (Take it from personal experience.)
Katharine McPhee debuted a shoulder-skimming bob with wispy bangs for the first time on the red carpet. For shine, our favorite lightweight oil is Verb's magical elixir shown below. We add it post-styling for end-mend and luster!
It's fitting that makeup artist Quinn Murphy used Dior's On Stage Liner for Tatiana Maslany's Tony's look. Matching the cobalt blue in her dress, Murphy chose Matte Pop Blue to trace a sharp wing on her upper lash line with a cherry red lip to mirror her gown as well.
Condola Rashad, nominated for Best Leading Actress for her role in the play Saint Joan, smolders with a plunging red off-the-shoulder dress and a perfect curly updo.
Plus, to emulate her amazing nude lip boasting lots and lots of gloss, we suggest Tom Ford's formula which has all the shine and less stick.
We love Mean Girls' Ashley Park's loose, shiny waves. Gretchen Wieners would be proud.
For a radiant, sun-kissed glow like Park's, Byrdie HQ has a thing for St. Tropez's gradual yet tinted self-tanner.
Silver seems to be the biggest trend of the Tonys red carpet. We love that Tina Fey paired her shimmery silver Thom Browne dress with undone strands, a rosy lip and a well-defined brow. (We're placing bets it's Anastasia's infamous Brow Definer which is a makeup artist favorite.)
Uzo Adoba stuns in a canary-yellow dress and matching earrings and gives us all the urge to try Princess Leia buns ASAP. We're also eyeing her sky-high fringe. For a similar look, these strips from Huda Beauty work wonderfully.
