Here at Byrdie Australia HQ we love supporting local brands when they expand their business overseas. Every fashion week, we scan the schedules for names like Zimmermann, Ellery, and Dion Lee, but lately we've been low-key obsessed with Tome. The Australian brand is based in New York, and a regular on the NYFW lineup, but still retains a sense of Aussie-ness. (Is that a word?) For instance, this is the second year Tome's designers have collaborated with The Daily Edited, one of our favourite local accessory labels.
That Aussie-ness translates to elevated but largely wearable beauty looks, a fact demonstrated by this year's incredible ponytails. (More on those below.) Take our word for it—they're the one NYFW hairstyle that got everyone talking.
To celebrate this year's showcase, we reached out to Darren Summors, a lead hairstylist for Aveda. We asked the Sydney stylist to share his crazy fashion week diary so we could follow along, a day-in-the-life style. From all the action backstage and his go-everywhere product kit, to a cameo from influencer Mimi Elashiry, you won't want to miss this.
