Ellie Goulding—the chart-topping British singer behind songs like “Anything Can Happen,” the unofficial anthem of the second season of Girls—may be on the road this summer, but she hasn’t given up her daily makeup routine. In the morning, Goulding washes her face with By Terry’s Refreshing Cleansing Gel ($51) before using Sisley’s Self-Tanning Hydrating Facial Skin Cream ($141). “I’m pale, so I like using a moisturizer with a gradual tanner on my face,” she says. Before she applies any makeup she preps her skin with Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir ($18):“It’s so refreshing!” she says.
“I swear by Clinique’s Chubby Sticks ($16), I can’t recommend them enough,” Goulding says. “They have the perfect consistency and give your lips a lot of shine.” Her go-to shades are Mighty Mimosa and Curvy Candy.
“The best trick I’ve learned from a makeup artist is to use sponges,” Goulding says. “I never realized how much makeup I piled on with my hands, but if you use a sponge your skin and freckles come through, which is really beautiful.” She uses M.A.C.’s All Blending Sponge ($8).
Goulding keeps L’Oreal’s Ideal Clean Towelettes ($5) on hand to remove her makeup—she considers them an on-the-road must-have. “Face wipes are very essential when you haven’t showered on tour,” she says.
Like anyone who spends all night on stage, Goulding has a wardrobe of concealer. “I switch between By Terry and Touche Eclat for day,” she says. “Then if I need more in the evening I use one by M.A.C.” She uses Laura Mercier’s Undercover Pot ($34) for highlighting: “It’s reflective and makes you look less tired than you are!”
