What We Like
  • Separates without clumping

  • Adds volume and length

  • The brush is suitable for all lash types

What We Don’t Like
  • Might irritate sensitive eyes

  • Product might build up on wand

  • Takes a little time to dry

Tarte’s Maneater Mascara will help separate your eyelashes and add length and curl. The brush has very short bristles which allow anyone to use it no matter what length eyelashes they have, and the product will have minimal transfer on application. Tarte Maneater mascara performs well and delivers instant results and is suitable to use every single day.

Mascara is one of the most widely utilized beauty products and comes in hundreds of formulas with every kind of brush you can dream of. While some mascaras promise to thicken lashes, help them appear longer, or even curl them to the max, it’s always miraculous to find a formula that delivers on several fronts in one application. Whether you want longer lashes instantly or need help separating them, we found that Tarte’s Maneater mascara delivered above and beyond and were shocked we haven’t been using this all along.

About My Eyelashes: Mascara is my favorite

I love mascara and wear it every single day. It is the one product along with concealer that makes me feel instantly refreshed and makes a huge difference in my mood. Just a few coats of the right mascara can instantly elevate my eyes. I have medium to long-length lashes and I don’t use an eyelash curler, so the most important thing for me is to add volume, curl, and even length to my lashes, but separating my eyelashes without clumping is one of the things I look for the most. Brands of mascara I use often are Grande Cosmetics, Victoria Beckham Beauty, and Essence Cosmetics.

How To Apply: Lock, wiggle, lift

Applying mascara is fairly straightforward but there are a few things you can do to ensure you coat every lash. First, lock the brush in between the eyelashes at the base making sure it’s in there securely, then wiggle the brush side to side before moving upward to the tips. Repeat this process up to three times or until you get the results you’re looking for.

The Results: No smudging, flaking, and lots of volume

After using this mascara a few times it’s safe to say that it’s my new favorite formula that I reach for every single day.

The brush alone has 500 short bristles, which is hard to believe when looking at it because they are so tiny, but in the bristles lie the magic of being able to coat and separate each lash without anything clumping. Besides the instant gratification of how good my lashes looked, I also noticed how the mascara didn’t flake or smudge all day. This is a huge feat as a lot of formulas have smudged on me in the past or caused my eyes to water. My eyelashes looked nice and long, separated, just curled enough and that made me quite happy.

The Value: Priced appropriately

For a mascara that delivers several benefits, doesn’t smudge, flake, and separates the lashes, the price tag of $24 is very fair considering the results you get. Another unique feature of Tarte's Maneater Mascara is it’s formulated without gluten, parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, and sodium lauryl sulfate.
