As someone who wakes up with swollen eyes on a regular basis, I can certainly attest to how annoying it is—and I can only imagine that for those who have to be camera-ready at a moment's notice, that impatience is exponentially more real. That's why celebrity makeup artists like Pati Dubroff have to be armed and ready with the right tools and tips to de-puff their A-list clientele. And that proved to be true at last night's Met Gala when Dubroff prepped Priyanka Chopra for one of the year's buzziest red carpets.
When I asked Dubroff for details on how Chopra's look came together, she revealed a genius tip that she had only just started "playing with" in order to quickly and effectively de-puff eyes before starting on the makeup. "I froze two silicone MakeupDrop applicators," she said. "I've been keeping them in Ziploc baggies with ice so they remain cool. I applied a layer of eye cream, put two of the Drops on top, and let it chill there." After the silicone applicators sat on the eyes for a minute or two, Dubroff then used them to massage the eye cream around the eye area.
Count that as yet another reason to consider one of those silicone makeup applicators, which really are everywhere lately. "They really are so refreshing on the skin," says Dubroff. A makeup and skincare hack rolled into one? Sold.
