There are two categories when it comes to popular face masks. The first category is composed of tried-and-true classics—masks that we've used for years and will probably continue to use for years to come. These are masks like GlamGlow's SuperMud Clearing Treatment ($59) and Fresh's Rose Face Mask ($62). The second category is what we'll refer to as the new classics. These are face masks that have launched relatively recently but gained our favor (as well as the rest of the world's favor) in a big way. These are face masks like Glow Recipe's Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask ($8) and the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask ($48), both of which we're completely obsessed with.
The latter is especially popular on Instagram. If we had to pick one face mask to call Instagram-famous, it would be that one. It's extremely hydrating, formulated to revive dry, stressed, or travel-tired skin like ours (read our full glowing review here). Now, we have another Summer Fridays mask to try since the brand just announced a brand-new brightening mask. It's called the Overtime Mask, and we're betting it will be Instagram's next big beauty buzz. Keep scrolling to learn all about the soon-to-drop product.
The brand's co-founder Marianna Hewitt posted this image to her Instagram account, which shows the new Summer Fridays Overtime Face Mask in all its glory. The packaging has the exact same minimalist look as its older sibling's, save for the peachy color.
The main difference, however, isn't in the color or the packaging; it's in the formulation. While the Jet Lag Mask was all about hydration, this one's all about brightening and clarifying. Seriously dull, congested skin will love it. Ingredients like pumpkin, exfoliating apricot seed powder, and oat kernel proteins slough away pore-clogging impurities, brighten the complexion, and even fight free-radical damage, which makes this the perfect new addition to an anti-pollution skincare routine.
The best part is that it does all of this without using any harsh additives. This mask is free from parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes and fragrances, phthalates, surfactants, petrolatums, BHT, BHA, and silicone (which, by the way, can literally "suffocate" your skin). It's also 100% vegan and cruelty-free. How's that for clean beauty?
The new Overtime Mask drops tomorrow, August 31, on the brand's website and September 4 on Sephora's website. If you want to shop it IRL, stay tuned because the brand hasn't given a release date for when we can expect to see it in our local Sephora location. We're hoping that it's sometime soon. Either way, if this mask is anything like the last, it will be all over Instagram. We suggest shopping it before it sells out.
