As someone who isn’t exactly a fitness class regular, I have a lot of experience with sore muscles. I stop into yoga only a few times a month and venture to boot camps and spinning classes even less. When I do show up, however, the morning after is rough. I wake up to body aches and even more concrete proof (aside from a trainer yelling it at me while I plank) that I need to “strengthen my core.” So while I’m an exercise novice, I fancy myself a veteran at finding the most soothing, invigorating, and healing products.
Below are all my secrets. Keep scrolling if you’re in any pain and want not to be.
This balm (blended with cayenne pepper and ginger) gently soothes aches, stress, and stiffness while it softens your skin, courtesy of nourishing antioxidants like rosemary, rose hip, and olive oil. Rub it into the affected muscle area, and it will warm up immediately.
Post-exercise, apply this hydrating and softening gel with concentrated arnica extract lemon peel, blue cypress essential oils, turmeric, and shea butter for an immediate cooling sensation. It’ll ease your aches and pains, and it smells incredible.
The therapeutic qualities of Dr Teal’s lavender offering are not to be ignored—the fragrance helps to relax your mind and body while the salt allows your muscles to recover from a tough workout. Just pour two cups in with your warm bathwater and soak for 20 minutes. FYI: These salts also help the body detox and de-bloat.
Vegan and cruelty-free, Lather’s pain-relieving gel helps almost instantly. The fast-absorbing formula is a blend of aloe vera, witch hazel, yucca extract, and rose water to moisturize and refresh your skin while it soothes lingering soreness. Rub it in up to three times daily for sweet, sweet relief.
Release body tension with this synergistic blend of essential oils made especially for post-workout soreness. It’s lightly scented, absorbs quickly, and is completely all-natural.
Weleda’s gentle massage oil yields a warming effect ideal for use before or after exercise. It’ll help you avoid muscular tension, supports muscular recovery, and uses arnica to help with swelling and pain.
