She's a self-proclaimed "food and feelings advocate" and the founder of The Pillow Talk Sessions, as well as a chef, and wellness authority. She even wrote a few stories for Byrdie. And, god damn, is she beautiful. I'm a fan, clearly.
When we had the chance to sit her down and grill her on her favorite beauty products, we grabbed a camera and immediately pressed record. And, well, she delivered. Below, find all her favorites including a juicy "pre-moisturizer," brow pencil, and clarifying shampoo. Watch the video in full to find out more, and keep scrolling for a look at each product (and where to buy it, should you so choose). Here's Sophia Roe's Just Five Things.
"When I first got this fragrance, it was a gift. It was from a friend, and I didn't really think too much about it. I feel really bad, like, I love you Nue Co. I just kinda just put it to the side. So I tried this fragrance, and was like, 'What have I been missing?'
"Now this is my new favorite. Sorry to the other fragrance. We won't mention it. It is formulated for stress and anxiety. So, for me, I'm really sensitive to smells. I'm also a bit of a stress-y person. So this is just really nice and calming for me. I have a small one in my purse. I kind of always have this fragrance around. I wish you could smell it. Too bad smell-o-vision isn't a real thing."
"You're no stranger to SheaMoisture, I know you've heard of it. But this particular product, this Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Shampoo, it's a mouthful, but wow, it is incredible. It has apple cider vinegar in it. So it's going to be particularly great for your scalp, which, I've got curly hair, so for me, it's kind of like, I'm really concerned with my scalp. I have a dry scalp. But even if you're someone who's got really oily scalp, apple cider vinegar is really great for that. It's just a great clarifier. If you're someone who's always processing your hair, or heat styling it, I would use this on the regular.
"If you're someone who doesn't do that regularly but notice, "My hair's feeling a little dull. My hair's not looking as vibrant as it usually does," this is the big guns. And also, this is a drugstore product, it's super accessible."
"First of all, with anything called Hydration Juice, like, you already know that that's gonna be an amazing thing. I like to use this to prime my skincare and makeup. You don't have to use it like that. It's definitely not a moisturizer. It's almost like a pre-moisturizer.
There's nothing worse than putting foundation or makeup on top of dry skin. That's actually, like, a no-no. So I like to actually mix this product in with my favorite foundation, the Koh Gen Do, just like this. So I take, just take a little bit. I may even add a little bit more. I take a little bit of the Elemis on the back of my hand, and then I take the foundation that I'm using, and then I mix it together. And for me, it just makes my makeup go on seamlessly.
"Whatever foundation you use, this one's better, okay? It's better. The Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation. I like to just take a little bit to the back of my hand, as I mentioned, this hydration juice, mix a little of this product, and it just... It works together so effortlessly. I mean, even like, kinda blends into the back of my hand, just perfectly. It's so nice. It's so smooth. It is super buildable coverage.
"I'd say at the beginning, it's probably light to medium coverage. I'm kinda in-between shades, and it somehow figures it out. I don't know how it does it, but it does. I used to work at Mall of Makeup, and I'm so glad that I worked there, if not for anything, for discovering this product."
"So, it's actually a brow pencil. But here's the deal, I like using it as an eyeliner and an eyebrow pencil. It is such a soft, dewy, really, really great texture. I don't like anything that's got too harsh of a line. I don't like my eyeliner to be really sharp. I like it to almost look like a little bit of eyeshadow."
