If you happen to follow model and fashion muse Georgia May Jagger on Instagram, you may have noticed her posting a surprising selfie yesterday morning—her face is pristine (per usual), but her red lipstick is decidedly smudged out of place. Makeup faux pas? Not quite. HarpersBazaar.com reports that Jagger is one of the first to take part in a social media campaign for a cause, similar to the ALS ice bucket challenge, with the hashtag #SmearforSmear.
The campaign—created by U.K.-based Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust—hopes to raise awareness and encourage women to get more regular Pap smears, which are the easiest way to detect cancer. "If we can just save one life with this campaign, then we have achieved a great deal," Jo’s chief executive Robert Music tells HarpersBazaar.com. "The response from the public has been fantastic and we already have women telling us #SmearForSmear has reminded them to book their overdue smear tests.” Rita Ora is the most recent celebrity who posted a smeared lipstick selfie since this morning—and we have a feeling many others will follow suit to support this important cause.
