The Sideswept Lob

Who wears it: Selena Gomez and Sarah Hyland

Why it's good for a round face: "The side sweep draws attention away from the symmetry of a round face while the length below the chin draws the eye down to elongate."

What to tell your stylist: "Have them use a facial feature as a guide for where the part should be—the iris or arch or edge of the eyebrow is usually a good gauge. Ask for length that hits anywhere between an inch below your chin to your collarbone and for layers to focus toward the ends and less around the face."

How to style it at home: "Apply Tresemmé Beauty-Full Volume Touchable Bounce Mousse [Ed. Note: This item is no longer in stock—we suggest the Tresemmé 24 Hour Body With Volume Control Complex Amplifying Mousse ($5) as a similar replacement] to the roots and then flip your head upside down. Rough-dry your hair with a blow-dryer for maximum volume. Afterward, spritz with Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray ($31); then detail with the GHD Gold Professional Iron ($199) to add a bend."

Cropped Pixie Cut

Who wears it: Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Williams

Why it's good for a round face: "This is such a great cut if you have an angular jawline. A side sweep in the front keeps the cut delicate while the cropped back and sides lengthen the neck."

What to tell your stylist: "Tell your stylist to crop the sides and back using a 'scissor over comb' technique to keep the ends soft (as opposed to using clippers). Cut the top with a razor or shears for more fullness and keep length toward the front for softness around the face."

How to style it at home: "Prep damp hair with Reverie Milk Anti-Frizz Leave-In Nourishing Treatment ($42); then blow-dry with a Wet Brush Wet Original Brush ($7), brushing the hair forward and toward the left, and then forward and toward the right (alternating directing and following the brush with the blow-dryer). Afterward, run a small amount of Tresemmé Keratin Smooth Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum ($6) and Leonor Greyl Éclat Naturel Styling Cream ($46) through the top."

Blunt, Long, and Layered Around the Face

Who wears it: Mila Kunis and Taraji P. Henson

Why it's good for a round face: "Super-sleek, shiny strands make your hair look polished, and layers that start below your collarbone lengthen your head shape. I love a middle part for this cut because it allows the shorter layers in the front to frame the face."

What to tell your stylist: "Tell your stylist you want it cut to a center parting and to only layer the front (if you have fine hair) or minimal layers in the back (if you have thick hair). Ask to use a razor around the front for lots of movement and texture without losing weight."

How to style it at home: "Blow-dry your hair smooth with an R+Co Round Brush ($89), a shine serum, and a dryer with a concentrated nozzle attachment. If needed, an iron to polish the ends."

After your hair is dry, switch your blow dryer to the cool setting and go over each section for added shine.

Long, Bouncy Layers

Who wears it: Gabrielle Union and Miranda Kerr

Why it's good for a round face: "The movement and texture below the face draw the eye downward while the bouncy volume at the crown works to lengthen your face."

What to tell your stylist: "Tell your stylist you'd like to avoid width—keep volume at the root and movement toward the ends. Have them texturize the ends for added movement when you blow-dry."

How to style at home: "Prep damp hair with mousse and Aveda Thickening Tonic ($30). Use a spiral boar-bristle round brush to blow-dry, spiraling the hair around the brush as you dry to create curls. Afterward, spray Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($48) at the roots and massage in for added lift."

The Textured Lob

Who wears it: Chrissy Teigen and Jennifer Lawrence

Why it's good for a round face: "Lots of texture allows the hair to frame your face, with a lift at the root and waves accentuating your eyes and lips."

What to tell your stylist: "Tell your stylist you want to keep a lot of weight in your hair to avoid the cut getting mushroom-y or round. If you don't have naturally curly hair, it should be a blunt cut with shears or a razor, then texturized on the ends with thinning shears for piecey movement."

How to style it at home: "Prep your hair by washing, conditioning, and then spraying a leave-in. Dry with a blow-dryer for a flat, smooth blowout. Once your hair is dry, use an iron to create a wave pattern, lifting your hair at the root, around your face, and straightening the ends. After, apply Ouai Matte Pomade ($24) to hands and shake up hair for a piecey finish."
