We all know that flying doesn't do any favors for your skin. Between the recycled air, the severe lack of moisture, the inevitable dehydration, and unforgiving changes in pressure that can leave you swollen and bloated, air travel can be a big bummer when it comes to beauty. But models—whose job it is to look fresh-faced and ready to work with a clear, glowing complexion—have no choice but to maintain beautiful skin that doesn't seem like its been subjected to all that goes on at 35,000 feet in the air.

So when Shanina Shaik spilled her exact in-flight beauty routine with us, we were all ears (and took some vigorous notes). The Australian model, who you likely recognize from many a runway (including Chanel, Ford, and Stella McCartney), as well as the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, has been busy planning her wedding to DJ Ruckus and working on a project with E! set to come out next year. When she took a moment out of her schedule to chat with us, she walked us through every step and every product she swears by on flights (in addition to drinking plenty of water)—so study up, and add these model-approved tricks to your arsenal the next time you fly.

Ritual Essential Vitamins for Women $30

Before getting into any skincare products, Shaik named vitamins as one of her top in-flight go-tos. "I travel with my vitamins everywhere," she admitted. "Fish oils, women's vitamins, primrose oils—which are great for skin."

Noni Glow Face Oil 1.01 oz/ 30 mL
Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil $68

"I'm also a big fan of moisturizers and facial serums," Shaik confessed. "My favorite would be Kora—the Kora Organics Glow Face Oil. That's for all skin types. That's what keeps the moisture on your face, which is important for flying."

Wedderspoon Raw Manuka Honey $34

Shaik says that she also likes to use Manuka honey. "I can put it on like a mask," she explains.

Egg Cream Mask Hydration 1 Single-use mask
Too Cool for School Egg Cream Mask Hydration $24

"I like the egg cream mask from Korean brand Too Cool for School," notes Shaik. "I travel with my egg white pore mask as well. I might use that after the flight because my skin's super oily. With that and the facial serum, you're pretty much good to go."

Hydrating Mist
Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist $24

"I like a rosehip spray," says Shaik, who prefers natural ones from places like Whole Foods or Korean skincare stores.

Creme Ancienne Supreme Eye Serum 0.5 oz/ 15 mL
Fresh Creme Ancienne Supreme Eye Serum $165

Shaiks doesn't forget her eyes when it comes to skincare. "I like to use the Fresh eye serum underneath my eyes, which is great as well."

Precision Makeup Sponge 100
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Precision Makeup Sponge $16

Though Shaik tries to avoid makeup as much as she can when flying, there are times when she gets off a plane and has to go to meetings. "I really only use the Fenty beauty blender and concealer—you can use it for anything, like blemishes or under-eye. It just covers it up and looks so natural." Shaik notes how her skin color changes all the time with the seasons. "Sometimes I need two concealers to get the right skin tone. That's why I love Fenty Beauty—it has a huge range of skin tone colors."

Radiant Creamy Concealer Ginger 0.22 oz/ 6 mL
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger $30

In addition to Fenty Beauty, Shaik is also a fan of Nars for her concealer.

Maybelline Great Lash Curved Brush Mascara $4

Last but not least, Shaik admits she loves Maybelline mascara as well, and it's been a staple in her beauty bag for years.

Now that you know what to pack, here's how to get all your beauty essentials through TSA.
