Selena Gomez is quickly becoming (if she wasn't already) a style and beauty icon. She's quick to try her own take on the buzziest trends and often launches brand-new ones (for example, she recently posed for a magazine cover without a trace of makeup on). This girl makes her own rules, and we love it.
The newest trend that she tried and subsequently pulled off perfectly was the wet hair look. This hairstyle has been all over the runways of New York Fashion Week. Shows like Fenty Puma, Coach, and Prabal Gurung all sent their models out with that "I just came from a quick swim in the ocean" look. The best part, is that her hairstylist Danielle Priano shared which products were used in a post on her Instagram.
First up, Priano used this R+Co product. Though it's technically a gel, since it supports and holds different styles, it also performs like a wax in that it provides flexibility and shine.
In other words, applying this to your strands won't result in dullness and stiffness. It will offer lightweight staying power and movement (which is exactly what you want, right?). Plus, this gel/wax is formulated with coconut oil, sunflower seed extract and keratin, so it actually nourishes your hair while you wear it.
You can apply this on wet or dry hair, though from the looks of Gomez's hair, we're guessing Priano opted for the former.
Oribe is definitely a Byrdie favorite (at any given point, its products are littered across our vanities and desks). This beach spray provides textured waves without stiffness. That's the theme with the wet hair look. You want your strands to be defined and sleek, but not rock-solid; there should still be movement.
This one's also formulated with oils (like the R+Co gel), so it imparts a little extra shine and nourishment.
Would you believe it if we said that was it? Yep, according to Priano, it only took these two products to achieve Gomez's perfectly on-trend hairstyle. Count us in.
