Model Sara Sampaio Shares Her Pre-Show Workout and Beauty Regimen

Some may argue modeling isn't a tough gig. You need only look beautiful, walk, and pose, right? Not so. The annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show may as well be a precision sport—the amount of physical training that goes into preparing for the widely televised show is unfathomable (we're talking two-a-days seven days a week). The models also follow a strict diet, undergo several beauty treatments (hey, full-body laser hair-removal is no cakewalk), carry 30-pound wings on their backs, and walk-in sky-high heels while trying to remain vertical.

Yes, it's easy to bear feelings of deep-seated envy toward Victoria's Secret models, but while they're certainly genetically blessed, they work hard. Still don't believe us? We chatted with VS Angel and Moroccanoil Beauty Ambassador Sara Sampaio who broke down her pre-show beauty and fitness routine, and let's just say, it isn't for the faint of heart.

Fitness Routine

"My workouts are usually a couple of hours long, and I work out around four to five times a week, depending on how my body feels and my schedule. Sometimes I'm working out intensely, so I will take some time off because resting is just as important as working out.

"I’ve been working out with my trainer, Justin Gelbland, and have also been doing Pilates at Flex Studios in NY. I'll also do a lot of resistance training for some cardio and butt work with ankle weights."

Diet

"I try to keep a balanced diet all year long, but I do love bread, pasta, and all Mediterranean kinds of food. But right before the show, I eat less of those as well as processed carbs. I'll eat more protein, veggies, and fruits."

Beauty Prep

"I like to use the Moroccanoil Mending Infusion, which completely revitalizes my hair, especially after being on set, which can put a strain on my hair from all the products and heat while styling. This helps replenish my ends and makes my hair look more nourished and ready for the show. I also love the Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil. It's perfect because it is multi-purpose. I'll use it on my skin for a nice glow and sometimes my lips and nails.

"I believe that less is more, so I don't really change much with my skincare routine. I will bring the SKII face sheet masks to make sure I keep my skin hydrated, especially after the long flight. I always have lip balm with me to keep my lips hydrated. I also always travel with the travel-size Moroccanoil Treatment to keep my hair looking smooth and shiny. I had laser hair removal all over my body a few years ago—it was the best decision I've ever made."

Mindfulness

"A lot of breathing helps me calm my nerves before the show. Before I get on the runway, I think to myself to own it, to be powerful, and to just feel the energy and make sure to enjoy every second."
