While there's undeniably a weight that a vote from the Hollywood Foreign Press or the Academy holds (albeit controversy often notwithstanding), there's a certain camaraderie that comes with earning a nomination and—even better—a win from SAG-AFTRA. The Screen Actors Guild Awards is the award show for the actors, by the actors—a chance for thespians to recognize their peers for their outstanding work, perennially as it relates to the lens of the audience rather than the critics (which has made for fascinating discrepancies between SAG wins and those of the upcoming Oscars).
The SAG Awards red carpet (or rather, the silver carpet) is certainly not without its glamor, but historically, the reverberating solidarity of the evening brings a warmer, more relaxed vibe that lends itself to especially experimental looks. Ahead, our favorite looks of the night, from Lupita Nyong'o to Sophie Turner.
