Rihanna Launches a New Fragrance, Channels ’80s Barbie

The period when Rihanna left Instagram was a dark one indeed—one without daily DGAF selfies, marijuana cakes, and blinged-out talons. Thankfully, she has since rejoined Instagram under the moniker @badgalriri and remains one of our favorite people to follow for posts that are just so, well, Rihanna. If you were scrolling her Instagram today for your daily fix, you may have noticed an exciting announcement: Our favorite bad gal will be releasing a brand-new fragrance (aptly named RiRi) in the fall. Her caption reads, “Excited to announce my newest fragrance “RiRi”… coming soon! #ThisIsRiRi.”

The singer has launched a fragrance before, Rihanna Rogue ($69), but the new campaign shows off a side of the pop star we rarely see: wide-eyed, innocent, and super feminine. With teased hair, a frothy pink dress, and strings of pearls (yes, pearls) across each wrist, we’re getting major ’80s Barbie vibes. According to the press release, the “opening chorus” of her new fragrance is a blend of passion fruit extract and rum absolute (fitting for the Barbados-born songstress), the “chorus” is made with Japanese honeysuckle and jasmine, and the “final chorus” will be a warm blend of Madagascar and Indonesian sandalwood for a “sweet and sensual dry down.” You can snatch up this flirty new fragrance at Macy’s in September.
