R+Co hair products leave your strands with a salon-worthy scent, and the packaging begs to be prominently featured on your vanity. I have been a fan of R+Co ever since I first tried the brand's High Dive Creme ($32) on my curls, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that I am complimented on how good my hair smells every time I use it. Known for formulas that are color-safe, heat and UV protective, vegan, cruelty and gluten-free, and created without ingredients such as parabens, sulfates (SLS or SLES), mineral oil, and petrolatum, R+Co launched its Bleu Collection as a couture and environmentally-conscious complement to its original product offerings.
The brand says R+Co Bleu was inspired by uncompromised beauty. The line blends the highest levels of performance, the most sustainable packaging, ultra-conscious ingredients, and beautiful design. Anyone who is passionate about beauty products and sustainability knows it's important to find brands that take ownership of their environmental footprint. The combined focus on timeless hair glamour and ecological stewardship make this collection a must-try.

To better understand the Bleu collection and how it differs from the original line, we turned to Dan Langer, group president, LBP Prestige Hair Group, president R+Co. "R+Co Bleu is the couture collection of R+Co. R+Co is focused on of-the-moment editorial looks and style, while R+Co Bleu is about timeless glamour and hair treatments," says Langer. "It’s two different approaches to beauty: one is more downtown and one more uptown, depending on a customer’s mood that day."
Another differentiating factor is the Bleu collection's focus on sustainability. "A cornerstone of R+Co Bleu’s philosophy is its commitment to using sustainable and recyclable packaging. Bottles and jars are made of 100 percent post-consumer recycled material, which uses 88 percent less energy to produce, further lowering the carbon footprint. Tubes are constructed from sustainable sugarcane bioresins. Cans are crafted from 100 percent aluminum—one of the most recyclable resources available, with nearly 75 percent of the aluminum ever produced in the United States still in use today. Cartons and secondary packaging are developed from 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified farms," Langer shares.
The target customer for this line values both salon-quality products and sustainability. "Our customer is one who loves beauty and hair and wants the best-in-class across every category in their life," says Langer. "They are focused on wellness for both themselves and the world around them. The performance criteria for them is higher than ever and for that reason, each R+Co Bleu formula is treatment-based and focused on hair health, strength, and shine—while the sustainability efforts push the envelope for the industry."

Vapor Lotion to Powder Dry Shampoo
When I heard about this innovative lotion-to-powder dry shampoo formula, I knew I needed to try it. As a curly-haired person, traditional dry shampoo sprays are difficult to use, as many leave a residue that needs to be brushed out (and dry brushing curls is essentially a crime against your curl pattern). The Vapor Lotion to Powder Dry Shampoo starts off as a floral-scented cream that, when massaged into the scalp, becomes a more traditional-feeling dry shampoo. The product left my roots volumized and sufficiently oil-free, without leaving my hair feeling dry. Even more impressive, I found that the scent left after it was worked into my scalp was divine.
Optical Illusion Smoothing Oil
The Optical Illusion Smoothing Oil is a must-have for at-home blowouts. This oil prevents frizz, adds shine, and helps to protect against heat styling damage. It leaves your hair hydrated and healthy, without weighing it down. This product can be applied to damp hair before blow-drying or before touching up the hair with a heat styling tool. A little goes a long way with this one, as it is a fairly dense oil. I recommend starting with just a pea-sized amount rubbed between your palms, then smoothing it over your hair.
Essential Hair Tonic
The Essential Hair Tonic repairs and protects damaged hair, while delivering extreme hydration. This medium-hold spray is great for fine, wavy hair as it provides structure without weighing the hair down. Apply a light mist to damp hair and scrunch to help wave or curl formation. It's also great for resetting fine, curly hair between wash days. I was impressed by how much hydration this provided to frizzy hair without getting oily or weighing down my curls.
De Luxe Reparative Shampoo
The De Luxe Reparative Shampoo is the most hydrating shampoo I have ever encountered. In fact, for those with fine or thin hair, this shampoo will likely be too hydrating. I think it's perfect for those with hair that gets oily easily, as it provides enough hydration that they will likely not need to use conditioner. It provides a thorough cleansing and a rich lather. The scent of this shampoo is a bit more "masculine" than some of the other products in the line, but I would still classify it as "unisex."
Primary Color Conditioner
This conditioner provides both strength and shine to color-treated hair. In nourishing the hair, the Primary Color Conditioner helps to prevent fading. I think this conditioner would be especially helpful to those who have bleached their hair or who have vibrant hair coloring, as it provides sufficient moisture and locks in vibrancy.
Elastic Styling Pomade
A rich, thick pomade, this product is great for people with short hair or those who like a tousled look. This leaves hair super shiny and gives a nice flexible hold. As with many of the other products in this line, a small amount goes a long way. Unlike other pomades that leave hair feeling dry or stiff, this one feels like a leave-in treatment for the hair. Before adding any additional product to your hair, I recommend just misting it with water to reactivate this pomade. It is easy to over-apply this one, so start with a very small amount and work it between your palms before styling the hair.
Cult Classic Flexible Hairspray
I understand why this hairspray has a cult following. In my experience, hairsprays are either sticky, drying, or oily, and I struggle to find a hairspray that makes my hair feel healthy and look good. But this one manages to provide a flexible hold without creating any heavy feeling on the hair. It leaves the hair with a healthy shine and still provides the amount of hold needed to manage frizz and flyaways. Many hairsprays also leave my hair feeling dry and tangled, so my favorite thing about the Cult Classic Flexible Hairspray was how easy it was to run my fingers through my hair after application.
Highest Volumizing Mousse
This mousse is ideal for those with thin or limp hair that want to give the illusion of more volume. The texture of the mousse itself is very rich and it has the same signature scent found in many of the other products in the line. When applied to the hair, there is a slightly tacky feeling, however, it is nearly impossible to achieve that much volume on thin hair without adding texture. As with the other styling products in this line, the richness of this formulation hydrates the hair, and too much of this product will leave hair feeling heavy.
Super Style Crème
The Super Style Crème is perfect for days when you want to air dry wavy hair. I applied a pea-sized amount from the middle to the ends of my damp hair and then let it air dry in braids. This resulted in soft, touchable waves with little frizz. I think the weight of this cream would weigh down my natural curls, but it's great for smoother, heat-free waves from braids or rollers. It leaves the hair feeling conditioned and looking shiny, which is likely due to the vitamin E in the formula.
Sleep Masque Night Repair Serum
At this price point, this overnight reparative mask is truly a luxury product—but the results are substantial. It is intended to repair damaged hair and ends, which it accomplishes through the inclusion of green caviar. The instructions say it can be left in the following day, but it definitely has a hefty weight to it, so styling it into a bun or another similar protective style will help you avoid hair that looks greasy.
