Priyanka Chopra is a woman of many titles—actress, model, Miss World pageant winner, Pantene ambassador—but New Year's resolution keeper isn't one of them. "Like every single person, by the time [the] third [of] January arrives, I break my resolution!" she admits. So instead of committing to a list of things like flossing more or hitting the gym, Chopra focuses her intention on more grounded wellness from the inside out.
In an interview with Vogue, Chopra highlighted her five-step plan for refocusing values and being more mindful. Her words of wisdom include confidence being the most beautiful asset a woman can possess, the importance of self-care, and practicing body positivity—recognizing we should try to be the best version of ourselves, no one else. Mixed in with these healthy approaches to real beauty and self-acceptance is a must-read (and try) secret: an Ayurvedic coconut oil scalp treatment passed down to Chopra from her grandmother.
"Three days of the week at least, she would sit me down," says Chopra, "and it was sort of a traditional thing in India that you do: Moms oil their daughters' hair and braid it. Coconut oil is healthy for the scalp and the growth of hair, [making it] longer and stronger."
Chopra continues to practice this traditional haircare remedy twice a month to combat the strain her strands take with her job and the constant styling. She heats up the coconut oil and massages her scalp then wraps her hair in a hot towel. After, she shampoos and conditions as usual. She proclaims, "I guess thanks to that, I have extremely luscious hair that can stand up against the brutality of my profession!"
