I have a not-so-secret confession: Before I started my career as a beauty journalist, I worked at Priceline. For seven years Australia's favourite drugstore beauty destination was pretty much my home, and I still get nostalgic when I walk into one to this day.
Whether you're an employee or not, there's no denying that Priceline know how to throw an epic sale. For instance, there is a two-day 50 percent off Big Brands Sale happening as we speak. But with so many bargains at the ready, it's hard to know where to begin—what's really a good buy? This is where I step in. If seven years has taught me one thing, it's how to expertly navigate these sales. In my experience, catalogue prices are pretty common across the board, but it's the two day events (like this one) that really present the bargains. Below, I sound off all the products that are truly a good deal, as well as what you shouldn't bother with. Act quickly though, as the sale ends tomorrow (September 28).
Keep scrolling for all the intel.
Olay is a real stand-out for me in this sale. It's commonplace to see 20 to 30 percent off the range, but 50 percent is kind of a big deal. This night moisturiser plumps and hydrates, while diffusing lines and wrinkles. And $24 for an anti-ageing night cream is amazing.
I love these sheet masks for their hyaluronic acid content (think plump, bouncy skin). Half-price Neutrogena isn't common in my experience, so these are definitely worth jumping on. Plus, it's a pack of five, equaling two dollars a mask. That is actually less than a loaf of bread. I find that the Neutrogena wipes (that are also fantastic) are reduced more often.
Half-price epilators are about as rare as jeans that actually fit. If you have't used one, know that they are painful, but they work really well. The tiny tweezers pull out all your hairs, giving you smooth pins without waxing. This is worth not doing the grocery shopping for.
Like epilators, electric toothbrushes are another Priceline-sale unicorn. If you haven't used one, there's really no time like the present to start. Don't be tempted by regular manual brushes though, they're always discounted.
Don't get me wrong, Revlon goes on sale a lot, but all too often it's 30 percent off nail polish, or half-price mascara only. But this time, the whole range has been slashed right down the centre. The Superlustrous lipstick is iconic and the Berry Rich shade is a classic pink that flatters everyone.
In my honest opinion, razors are expensive. All too often, it's the cheaper, two-blade one-time wonders that are reduced, but not this time. The crème de la crème of disposable razors, the Venus Swirl, is down to a mere $10. Don't feel like you have to pick up a shower gel in the same aisle though, you can almost always grab that on sale.
