Watch Our Editorial Director Try Pat McGrath's Dark Star 006

There aren't many product launches that cause as much bated breath and beauty editor frenzy as a new Pat McGrath launch. Her latest one caters to everyone's moody side, and it provides everything you need to create a holographic, mesmerizing makeup look à la Anna Sui F/W 17. I was lucky enough to receive the coveted seven-piece set, and naturally, I tested it out immediately. Everything blends beautifully and can be applied with your fingers, but because Pat is a goddess and always thinks of her followers, she included a Blender Brush that swirls everything together if you prefer to that route. My three favorite products in the collection:

1. Black SmudgeLiner Eye Khol: This chubby pencil has a gel texture and goes on inky-black, but you can easily smudge it out for a one-step smoky eye using just your fingers.

2. Pigment in UltraViolet Blue: All eye shadows fall in the shadow of this silky shadow, and it's so pigmented that it's almost creamy. It's blue, but it's also purple at certain angles. I recommend applying it with your fingers to take advantage of the saturated shade.

3. Pigment in Astral White: I personally don't mind the unicorn trend, but even if you're the most outspoken opponent, you'll be tempted to apply this shimmery, iridescent shadow as a top coat, well, everywhere.

You can purchase Dark Star 006 ($130) at and limited Sephora stores.
