8 Under-the-Radar Wellness and Beauty Destinations to Visit in Paris

Updated 04/19/19

The Musée d'Orsay, Cafe Flore, Monoprix… they're popular Parisian haunts for good reason. But should you find yourself wanting to venture off the beaten path during your next (or first!) trip to the City of Light, we've got you covered.

When visiting my favorite city in the world this past February, I made it my mission to scope out some places I hadn't frequented before—all with our Byrdie readers in mind, bien sûr. As a result, I found myself exploring different corners of Paris' exciting wellness and indie beauty scene, much of which has only been established in the past couple of years.

Below you'll find some of the places and experiences I loved most—from a supercharged facial to a superfood latte bar.

A Yoga Class That Feels Like a Mini Escape at Ici Selfcare

Founder Sam Guelimi (who also happens to be the woman behind another one of our must-visit destinations, Glow on the Go) created this airy hideaway as a community hub for wellness-minded Parisians. Tucked away from the bustling streets near the Arc de Triomphe, the studio doubles as a small-scale boutique featuring wares from CAP Beauty, Sundara Holistic, and Fat and the Moon.

Superfood Bowls From Wild & The Moon

Of all the healthy food recs I received prior to my trip, this organic juice bar and restaurant was the most popular by far. From the macrame hanging plants to the communal tables and candy-colored superfood lattes, it's certainly a slice of L.A. in the middle of Paris. (To put a finer point on it, as I was waiting for my Buddha Bowl, my gaze fell upon a CBD-infused tonic dubbed "Hollyweed" in the beverage cooler.) There's also free Wi-Fi, so pull up a seat and hang awhile.

An Authentic Spa Experience at O’Kari Hammam

Spending an afternoon at the Turkish spa is a popular pastime in Paris and certainly worth adding to your agenda if the prospect of taking your clothes off for three hours and getting your body steamed and buffed to perfection doesn't make you squirm. There are many hammams in the city worth exploring, but O'Kari Hammam's luxe, tranquil atmosphere is top-notch. Expect to leave feeling like you've shed much more than dead skin.

A Kick-Ass, yet Fun, Spin Class at Dynamo

If you're in need of a SoulCycle or Flywheel fix, look no further: This cycling chain offers the same high-vibe community aesthetic.

Afro-Vegan Food and People-Watching at Jah Jah

Much like its wildly popular sibling restaurant, Le Tricycle, this cozy vegan destination is very much a cool-kid hang (just take a look at co-founder/It girl Coralie Kory, whose beauty routine we spotlighted earlier this month). Order a hot bowl of veggie goodness, sit back, and peek around at other patrons for endless fashion and beauty inspiration.

The Tata Harper Experience at Le Bristol Spa

After exclusively housing La Prairie for many years, the iconic Hotel Le Bristol recently welcomed Tata Harper into its spa family—complete with a chinoiserie-accented suite so stunning, you might question your own design choices thus far. But even the covetable aesthetic is no match for the treatments themselves, which are nothing short of transformative. I opted for the Jet Lag Recovery facial, which was essentially a 55-minute face massage. I walked into the February night with a high-wattage glow, newly sculpted cheekbones, and nary an under-eye bag in sight.

Killer Superfood Lattes and Beauty Buys at Glow on the Go

True story: I dipped into this pretty spot after my friend Gloria Noto mentioned that it was now stocking her ultra-cool (and effective) skincare line, Noto Botanics. I had no idea at the time that Glow on the Go was another project from Sam Guelimi, the founder of Ici Selfcare. Here you'll find an impressive array of indie beauty and wellness brands from Sun Potion to Butter Elixir. Need a pick-me-up? Choose from a menu of seasonal superfood elixirs and lattes or customize your own. (I had some kind rose hot cacao situation that served as the perfect antidote to the snowy weather outside.)

Don't have time for a full meal? Check out the restaurant's takeaway outpost or home boutique, both just a stone's throw away.

Bonus: Use OneFineStay

Paris certainly has its share of chic hotels, but for a more personalized experience that doesn't skimp on luxury, you might consider booking an apartment through Onefinestay. Much like Airbnb, you'll get your pick of homes in the neighborhood of your choice, but the options are impeccably curated (read: no "surprises" upon arrival) and the 24-hour service is top-notch. You'll be personally greeted by a concierge who can help you with anything you might need during your stay, and you can expect top-of-the-line amenities like fresh linens and toiletries—all in a home to (sort of) call your own. My art-filled apartment on the outskirts of Le Marais was one of the highlights of an already-wonderful trip.
