Pangea Organics Superfood Smoothie Mask

My skin and I are in a never-ending saga that's clear and glowy one day, and spotty and bumpy the next. I am always on the hunt for a good mask to help keep my complexion radiant, so when Pangea Organics invited me to try out its new range of skin and body products, I jumped at the mask first.

The brand was born in 2001 and launched with a collection of nine organic soaps. Since then, Pangea has transformed into a complete range of skin and body care made with super clean, sustainably sourced ingredients housed in 100% recyclable aluminum plastic-free packaging.

Pangea's founder Joshua Onysko told me that an at-home green smoothie recipe inspired the brand's Superfood Smoothie Mask, which has become my recent skincare obsession. Ahead, I break down everything you need to know about the product if you're in the market for a new facial treatment. Read my honest thoughts ahead.

Pangea Organics Superfood Smoothie Mask

Best for: Dull, congested skin and gentle exfoliation

Uses: An exfoliating face mask that gently purifies and buffs off dead skin.

Hero ingredients: Matcha, French white and green clay, acai, goji berry

Byrdie Clean? Yes

About The Brand: Pangea Organics was launched in 2001 and offers a range of clean, sustainably sourced skin and body products with 100% plastic-free packaging.

About My Skin: Acne-prone with hyperpigmentation

My skin and I have a long history of acne and hyperpigmentation. For the most part, I've been able to manage my acne, but I still struggle with hormonal and seasonal flare-ups. My skin type is combination, with oiler patches and drier areas around my mouth and chin. I typically look for at-home masks to buff off dead skin and brighten my complexion, and I use them weekly (or whenever I remember to slather them on).

The Ingredients: Clean and gently exfoliating

There's a misconception that some skincare products made with "clean" ingredients are less effective than chemically-potent formulas, and Pangea proves that theory wrong. Each product is formulated with a long list of natural actives and botanicals that target a wide range of skincare concerns.

In the case of the Superfood Smoothie Mask, it's packed with matcha, french white clay, acai, and goji berry—making it the closest thing to a green smoothie for your skin. The formula is thick and green and has a bit of natural grit. Together, the ingredients are designed to unclog and purify your skin while brightening and protecting it from the environment.

How to Use: Use as a weekly skin treatment

According to the Pangea packaging, the Superfood Smoothie is meant to be applied to clean, damp skin and left on for ten minutes. My skin has been super dry, so I washed my face with a gentle cream cleanser before applying the mask. I painted my face with the smoothie formula and left it on for 15 minutes before rinsing. Since I discovered the formula, I haven't been using it as consistently as I've liked, but every time I go back to it, I'm reminded of how much I love it.

The Results: Smooth, vibrant skin

After keeping the mask on for 15 minutes, I wiped it off with a warm cloth and was left with clean, supple skin. My skin is always instantly refreshed and brighter after each use. I follow up with a moisturizer and sunscreen during the day to complete my routine. I prefer face oil at night, so I wake up with nourished skin. Pangea's Super Antioxidant Glow Oil ($58) is one of my recent favorites for locking in moisture after a face mask.

The Value: Worth it

For $56 bucks, Pangea's Superfood Mask is on the pricier side but well worth it. The formula is bottled in a 4.9-ounce aluminum tube. For $66, you can purchase the item with a tube key to squeeze out the product to the last drop. For the quality of ingredients, and being that the product is also 100% recyclable and made sustainably, it's worth the pretty penny.

Similar Products: A few similar options but, ultimately, unique

Before trying Pangea's Superfood Smoothie Mask, green, Hulk-like formulas with equally strong benefits were few and far between in my collection. Still, it doesn't mean similar options don't exist.

Golde Clean Greens Face Mask ($34): This formula is made with green superfood ingredients like chlorella and spirulina to purify your skin, and it's also packed with marshmallow root to calm and soothe. Add water, apply for up to fifteen minutes and rinse off for maximum results.

Cocokind Organic Ultra Chlorophyll Mask ($16): Cocokind's green formula is similar to Golde's since it's a powder formula that requires water. It's also made with spirulina, chlorella, and wheatgrass powder.

Final Verdict

Pangea's Superfood Smoothie Mask is a one-stop formula to buff, brighten, and nourish your skin at once. Whether you prefer clean products or, simply, seek skincare that works this one will deliver.
