Nyx's New Faux Marble Lipstick Is Almost Too Pretty to Use

Nyx Faux Marble Lipstick $9

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). Reviewed is a series where we report on some of the best products we've tried. Whether it's a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you'll find all our favorites in this column. Enjoy!

There are some makeup products that look way better in the packaging than on the skin: the bronzers and blushes with intricate decals on them that have either way too little or too much color payoff, nail polish that serves better as room décor than on your nails, eye shadow that is solely made for the perfect Instagram flat lay. But I think I've found the one item that can do both in Nyx's newest lip product, the Faux Marble Lipstick.

Marble is aesthetically pleasing, a swirl of colors, sometimes mismatched, that come together to form a design that hypnotizes you. The trend that was strong for nails has now migrated over to lips, and what could have turned into a hot mess of smudged colors actually comes together nicely. This limited-edition collection holds four different shades, and with each swipe comes out a beautiful color that anyone can wear.

I usually gravitate toward dark purple when it comes to eye shadow and nail polish because the hue complements my tan skin. For lip color, though, I tend to play it safe with mauve or nude shades. However, this Berry Baie lipstick is making me want to be more adventurous. It's a swirl of ultraviolet (Pantone's color of the year), lavender, and gold metallic with a glitter sheen. I'm mesmerized just looking at it; this is my idea of what the galaxy looks like, facts be damned. It glides on smoothly and is extremely hydrating. I'm also a big fan of the satin finish. So thank you, Nyx, for convincing me to be a little bolder in my lip color choices. You can find me wearing this out on Saturday nights.
