Occasionally, these products burst onto the scene and turn our whole industry upside down (hi, BB Cream!). But more often than not, a product (or product line) rises in popularity in its native country, then slowly trickles into the U.S., by way of beauty insiders, before others (finally!) catch on and it becomes all the rage. Well, consider this your exclusive preview of the next big thing from abroad. Today, we’re sharing five hair-care lines from overseas that are on the brink of achieving BB-cream-status stateside. We’re not saying these will replace your everyday staples…well, actually, we’re saying just that.

The Brand: Original & Mineral [O&M]
The Country: Australia
We first heard about this Australian line during a salon visit at Maven Beverly Hills and, since then, couldn’t help but notice it creeping up in many a hairstylist’s kit. Designed specifically with color-treated hair in mind, the line is made of natural botanical ingredients native to Australia (think evening primrose oil, macadamia seed oil, and bansia flower), and is free of harsh chemicals. That just-back-the-ocean Australian girl hair you’ve always dreamed of? This line will help you achieve it—the Surf Bomb Sea Salt Spray ($24) in particular.
The Brand: Evo Haircare
The Country: Australia
Another haircare line from down under we’re smitten with? Evo. With the motto, “saving ordinary humans from themselves,” the salon line promises innovative, non-toxic products that do exactly what they claim—no gimmicks or false marketing language allowed. We love the cheeky phrases on all the products, and are particularly fond of the Salty Dog Salt Spray ($30) and Water Killer Dry Shampoo ($32) for tousled mermaid hair.
The Brand: Philip Kingsley
The Country: The U.K.
You know the phrase “bad hair day”? Philip Kingsley coined it. Dubbed the “Hair Guru” by The New York Times, the trichologist (that would be scalp specialist) was the hair doctor for many a Brit celeb and royal back in the day. After opening his own clinic in 1960, he started his own line of products in 1997 with a focus on catering to the scalp and hair texture, instead of the traditional normal, oily, and dry categories. Today, you can get the line stateside at Net-a-Porter—try the Elasticizer ($49), a super nourishing pre-shampoo treatment, the Exfoliating Scalp Treatment ($30), to leave your scalp feeling squeaky-clean, or the Trichotherapy Regime ($215), to help your hair grow longer and thicker—seriously.
The Brand: Christophe Robin
The Country: France
Colorist Christophe Robin has worked with everyone from Linda Evangelista to Catherine Deneuve, so to say he knows color would be an understatement. A former L’Oréal color expert (specializing in the brands at-home color kits), he started his own line of luxurious, color-saving products made with natural ingredients, like lavender (for toning) and chamomile (for bringing out shine). Our current obsession? The Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt ($52), which feels amazing (two words: scalp massage) and leaves our strands soft, shiny, and oh-so-clean.
The Brand: Uka
The Country: Japan
The brand’s lush line of nail oils is a cult-favorite in Japan (and slowly gaining traction here, too), but we’re currently most obsessed with their hair-care line. The Wake Up! Shampoo ($34) instantly perks up dull, lifeless strands and makes it super-bouncy (think of it as your hair’s a.m. wake-up call), while the Nighty Night line is made with 15 amino acids that feed your hair and leave it shampoo-commercial fabulous. We tried both, and are fully smitten.
