Miranda Kerr's makeup artist, Lisa Storey, doesn't want to sound biased, but she thinks that the model had one of the best looks at the Met Gala this evening. Says Storey, "I know it's awful to say because I did it, but I think she's one of my favorite looks. I mean the hair, the outfit—stunning. I mean, it's so unique how she looks, and it's really different for Miranda to go for that kind of hairstyle as well. It's amazing." Another element that was a bit off the beaten path for Kerr? That deep oxblood lip. Keep scrolling to learn how Storey created the look.
"Initially, I usually put a little base over the lip and then pat it," explains Storey. Tonight, she used Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Nude Foundation ($39) as the base for the lipstick.
"Around the lip line—this is really important—I used Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Correcting and Highlighting Perfector ($28), which is like a Touche Éclat kind of effect, and that just helps sort of project the lips a little bit."
"Then I used the Elizabeth Arden Precision Glide Lip Liner in Naturel, which is kind of like a deep rose color."
Next came the vampy color. "I used the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Scarlet, which is sort of like a plum-y scarlet, so it's quite deep. That's what the emphasis was—the dark lip," she says.
After Storey applied the lip color, she blotted it with a tissue and reapplied more lipstick: "I actually like the lips to look a little moist, but I think if you blot it, it goes a bit sheer, and then you layer it on again, and it actually keeps a sort of like, suppleness to the lip," she explains.
