Beauty products are often a dime a dozen—we buy them, try them, and move on once they run out (or sometimes before, in an unfortunate turn of events). But every once in a while, a product so good takes up a permanent space in our arsenals, and we never leave home without it. Such is the case with a good mascara. I search high and low for a product that will hold a proper curl for longer than it takes me to get to where I'm going, so it's no surprise that I've done my research. Reddit, an unlikely beauty source but a fruitful one nonetheless, just gave up the greatest secret for my sad eyelashes. Keep scrolling for the only mascara you need from now on—and yes, it's under $10.
One user posted, "Shout-out to the only mascara that can help my lashes keep a curl," and I was immediately intrigued. Another followed up: "It was the mascara I was using in high school! I started getting into makeup this year, and started snubbing it to try various mid-range to high-end brands, but nothing was really working for me. I'd find my lashes falling out with more frequency when washing my face. Now, I've come crawling back to my Maybelline mascara."
What's so great about this particular mascara? It’s a new iteration of its cult-fave counterpart, now with a lifted, winged look. Maybelline makeup artist Grace Lee says it's like a push-up bra for your eyelashes. The secret is in the brush—it sweeps lashes to the side while lengthening and plumping each hair from the root. Maybelline's special formula then holds your lashes in place. First sweep your inner lashes in an upward and outward motion from the root to the tip. Repeat (I like to do three to four swipes) until you've achieved that lifted, volumized, and winged-out effect.
