Maybelline's Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara Provides Major Length and Volume

One of my essential beauty products is mascara. I never have too many on hand, and my lashes are never too full and defined when I use one. After hearing about the Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara, advertised as a product that gives lashes major volume, I wanted to try it and see what it was like. Known for beauty products that are actually effective and affordable (no product I’ve used from Maybelline has never disappointed me), I was curious to know if this mascara would be just as impressive. About My Lashes: Neither long nor short

My lashes are not a notable feature of mine. They're pretty average when it comes to length, density, and curl. I’m personally not too concerned with my eyelashes having length because I usually wear a pair of false lashes if length is something I need for a particular makeup look. For this review, I swapped out my go-to (the tubing Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara) with Maybelline’s on the days I wore makeup, I wanted to see if I could have similar (or better) results for a few bucks less.

How to Apply: Comb through and layer while still wet

The applicator for this mascara makes applying the product really easy. The wand is full of tiny teeth that help give lashes extreme definition and length, so all you have to do is comb the brush through your lashes from the root to the tip. Maybelline recommends using the narrowest part of the wand to reach the smallest lashes you have. Additionally, the brand also advises to not let the formula dry when applying a second or third coat—layer the mascara while it’s still wet.

The Results: Defined lashes with major length

I tried this mascara for a little over two weeks and I was wow'd more and more by with each use. My eyelashes were defined, lengthy, and volume—both when my lashes were curled and didn't. With the wand's stacked layers of bristles designed to reach both longer and shorter lashes. I noticed how defined the smallest eyelashes I have were—and that's something I don't get from other mascara brands. Using Lash Sensational is as straightforward as you can imagine—very little finessing with the wand is needed.

There is one thing, however, that I think could be improved: the flakiness of the formula. I’m never too fussed about a flake here and there, but I did have more than a couple of flakes a handful of times when I wore the mascara, and this won’t cut it for someone that needs a product with as little flakes as possible. Overall, I was happy with the way my lashes looked, even with the flakes, and in my opinion, Maybelline nails it with another mascara once again.

The Value: It's a steal

At $10, the Lash Sensational mascara is a steal. Even though there may be a flake or two, I still think this mascara provides value by intensifying lashes—dramatically volumizing and defining them.

If, like me, lengthy lashes are nice to have but not compulsory, you’ll really enjoy this product.
