The Budget Beauty Blog

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). Reviewed is a series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you’ll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!

I’m a huge fan of highlighters—but there are so many out there. There’s liquid, powder, shimmery, matte, pink, bronzy, the list goes on and on. As such, I’ve made it my mission to find my absolute favorite. I’ve been looking for a product with sculpting, shimmering, and light-reflecting effects, and now, I’ve finally secured the MVP of my makeup routine. Maybelline’s Facestudio Master Strobing Stick ($8) comes in both Light Iridescent (a pinky, candlelit shade) and Medium Nude Glow (a bronzy, golden hue). When I’m going for a sun-kissed look, I use the Medium Nude Glow to sculpt, lightly tapping it in along my cheekbones and into my hairline. However, I’ve found myself using the Light Iridescent every single day this month. I swipe it on my cheekbones for a quick highlight, around my eyes and brow bone for some brightening shimmer, and along my cupid’s bow for the plumping effects. I even used the opalescent formula as lipstick. It’s truly the most multipurpose product I have and it’s only $8.

The secret is in the micro-fine pearls that reflect light and boost skin glow, but won’t leave you looking greasy or too sparkly. It’s a combination of everything I’ve ever wanted in a highlighter. It’s quick, easy, and absolutely gorgeous. I’m officially sold.
