Exclusive: Getting Ready for the 2020 People's Choice Awards with Mandy Moore

No matter the event or occasion, there's one constant guarantee from a Mandy Moore look: she will glow. It doesn't matter if she's the picture of retro glamour at the 2019 Emmys or dark and vampy at the CFDA Fashion Awards, Moore's fresh-faced radiance and complementary makeup has been our collective inspiration for decades now. Tonight's look for the 2020 E! People's Choice Awards, though, might just be her best yet.

We got the ultimate inside look at the complete getting ready process for the event straight from Moore's longtime makeup artist, Kindra Mann. "It's always lovely working with Mandy," Mann says. "She is one of the warmest individuals, and the getting-ready process is fun and relaxing and just a bunch of friends catching up."

For this particular look, it was crucial to Mann that the makeup, while powerful and fresh, didn't compete with Moore's dress for attention. "The dress was so classic that we wanted to keep the makeup and skin really fresh and glowing," Mann says. To prep the face for flawless product application, Mann used ALLEVEN Total Face Serum ($141), a high-tech cocktail of powerful molecules that smooths, tightens, and hydrates skin ahead of makeup.

Mann then went in with Kosas Tinted Face Oil ($42) in the color 04 as an all-over foundation followed by strategic concealing around the nose and undereyes with the brightening Kosas The Revealer Concealer ($28) in shade 3.5.

"I set it all with a light powder before warming up the skin and really adding some lit-from-within glow with Kosas The Sun Show Bronzer ($34) in Light," Mann says. "For a beautiful peachy flush on the cheeks, I applied Kosas Color & Light Palette in Papaya 1972 ($34)."

The most dramatic aspect of Moore's look for the evening, Mann's plan for the eyes was a focus on thick, voluminous lashes. Starting with a wash of color, Mann applied Kosas 10-Second Eyeshadow ($28) in Globe, a neutral champagne that brightens and illuminates. "This creates an almost watercolor effect of shimmer," Mann told us.

"For some added drama and to make the lashes really thick, I painted a coat of Kosas The Big Clean Mascara ($26) on with a brush and added a few Lashify individual lashes for extra fullness," Mann explained. To finish the face, she applied a coat of nude lipstick. "On Mandy’s lips, we went for a soft nude color to play off the simplicity of the eye makeup with Kosas Weightless Lip Color ($28) in the shade Vegas." Made with soothing botanicals, it's a perfect color-hydrator combo.

Her face might be finished but there's still one step to go: body! "Right before she headed out the door, I created a mixture of ALLEVEN Colour Shield ($80) in shades Ivory and Pearl, first applied first to my hands to mix the colors and then to the legs," Mann tells us. "It gives her that perfect red carpet sheen."

Perfect is right! And now, finally, Mandy Moore is off to the People's Choice Awards.
