If you didn’t know Chinese designer and couturier Guo Pei before Rihanna’s EPIC entrance at the 2015 Met Gala Ball, you aren’t alone. Though she’s only recently grown in popularity among the U.S. crowd, Pei has actually been one of China's most respected designers for over two decades—known for creating intricate, whimsical pieces for some of East Asia’s most recognizable faces. Lucky for us, MAC took notice of her talent and is set to launch a gorgeous collaboration with the designer. The 16-piece MAC Guo Pei collection features stunning blue eye shadows and rich pink lipsticks, all housed in fabric-wrapped packaging hand-sketched by Pei herself. MAC Guo Pei launches online September 24 and will be available in MAC stores October 1. [Refinery29]
Now that we are halfway through September, fall is officially here, and it’s time for a makeup bag refresh. What’s on trend? Vibrant new looks in aubergine, maize, and pumpkin. We’re loving everything from the showstopping yellow mani created with Yves Saint Laurent’s La Lzaque Couture Nail Lacquer ($27) in Jaune Babouche to the kissable orange pout created by Bobbi Brown’s Lip Color ($27) in Carnation. This is undoubtedly the year of the brow, and while the full, bold look has typically dominated the conversation, there is such thing as too bold. Rose recommends “a dry powder eye shadow or brow product that’s a bit softer than [your] brow color.” We love Urban Decay’s Brow Box ($30) for this look. [Makeup.com]

New seasons typically mean a change in your wardrobe and beauty regimen. But does that mean we can stop wearing sunscreen and say goodbye to our beach waves? In short, no. There are some summer beauty rules that apply year-round. The most important? Don’t stop applying your sunscreen! The sun can cause harm all year as harmful UV rays can penetrate clouds on dark days and car windows while you’re driving, so it’s important to keep yourself protected every day of the year. Our favorite way to stay safe? EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 ($24) for broad-spectrum protection. [SheFinds]
