Sometimes finding the perfect lip color is a huge feat. The combination of finding the right undertones, the right finish, and the overall perfect formula for your complexion takes plenty of swatching and testing, not to mention a big toll on your wallet. So when Lipstick Queen came out with its wildly popular Frog Prince Lipstick ($25), a green (yes, green) lipstick that reacts perfectly with your body's pH to deliver a custom rose-toned hue, saying we were excited would be an understatement.
And then Lipstick Queen outdid itself by releasing a magical lip gloss with the same shade-adjusting formula. In the tube, it looks a bit alarming; the formula looks sparkly—like the sort of lip gloss you'd wear as a kid. But after you apply it, the gloss leaves behind the most subtle shimmer and a gorgeous color. It also isn't sticky in the slightest—it's just more of a hydrating lip color that personally lasted me all day long, even through eating and drinking. Another bonus? It's infused with shea butter and "maxi-lip," a natural peptide that stimulates collagen and helps nourish and regenerate the lips for a plumper, fuller pout. It's a win all around.
The brand has also created a green shade-adjusting cream blush that seriously doesn't budge. I color-swatched it on my hand at first to test it out, and I needed to rub it off with a tissue to remove it—and even then it didn't come off entirely. Suffice to say, if you're looking for a long-lasting cream blush in the most flattering hue for your skin tone, this is the product for you.
So what's behind the cosmetic sorcery? It contains a pigment called "chameleon" (of course) that reacts with light, moisture, and (as mentioned previously) pH, to adjust in color. What's amazing is that a friend of mine tried the lip gloss and it gave off a mauve hue, but when I tried it, my lips were a bright pink. It's truly exciting to compare and contrast the results with other users.
Forget having to kiss several frogs to find the right lip and cheek color—these products do all the work for you.
