Last month, Lindsay Ellingson (our newest Byrdie editor) gave us a detailed look into her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show prep. Now that the show is over and the holidays are coming up, she’s got some time off of the runway, but that doesn’t mean life slows down. We asked Ellingson to give us a peek inside her typical off-duty day. From her favorite workout to the evening unwind, she showed us exactly what it’s like.

Morning Tea

Good morning, Byrdie beauties! I’m so excited to be one of the newest Byrdie editors. This month, I want to take you on a journey through a day in my life when I’m not on the job. Let’s start with my morning routine. I like to cozy up in my sweats with a cup of Kusmi Detox Tea (it’s a blend of mate and green tea) while reading The Broadsheet, which is all about the world’s most powerful women, written by Caroline Fairchild.

Healthy Breakfast

One of my favorite meals is breakfast! If I’m not at my local organic restaurant, I like to mix Greek yogurt with raw honey and berries. Not only is the yogurt packed with protein to keep you energized in the morning, but the berries provide antioxidants, which are great for your skin!

Walking Carly

If you follow me on Instagram (@lindsellingson), you may know that I’m a bit obsessed with my little cockapoo Carly! She’s two years old, and loves meeting people! My husband and I enjoy walking Carly to her favorite spots everyday, one of which is the Soho Grand hotel. They have a living room that serves food and is dog-friendly, a great spot for the winter! I’m a huge animal lover, and I recently signed up to be a Guardian Angel with the Best Friends Animal Society. I encourage all of you to check it out!

Hot Yoga

Next stop for my day is hot yoga. I’ve been practicing for the last few years, and I’ve noticed a huge difference in not only my body, but also my mind. Yoga has taught me the correct way to breathe, which is so useful in stressful or nervous situations; it gives you a sense of peace and calm. Also, fun fact I learned in yoga, inversions (like this one) are said to be the “natural face lift.” They increase blood flow and oxygen to the face, which gives you a healthy glow.

Facial Time

Once a month, I see my facialist Ildi Pekar. She’s originally from Budapest, and has very unique treatments, as well as a brand new skincare line based on raw honey called I Pekar. She has really transformed my skin. I rarely get breakouts and my skin tone is much more even now. My favorite treatment, which she is doing in this picture, is called microcurrent; it’s like a workout for your face!

Beauty Business

Each week I meet with my Wander Beauty business partner Divya Gugnani. We are constantly brainstorming future innovative products, and testing out our new packaging, colors, and formulations. Wander Beauty is the first internationally inspired beauty brand designed for style-savvy women craving luxury that seamlessly suits their on-the-go lifestyles. I can’t wait for our launch next April on QVC!

Filming a Quick Tutorial

On Thursdays, I post a #tutorialthursday on @Wander_Beauty. This month, I’ve been demonstrating some of my favorite holiday party looks! This week’s tutorial was all about creating a gorgeous ombre lip. It’s very easy to do: Just line your lips with a darker shade of lipstick, press lightly to blend so there are no harsh lines, then add a pop of bright red to the center of your lips.

This look is right on-trend for winter!

Holiday Decorating

When I have a little bit of downtime, it’s time to take care of things around the house. I absolutely love this time of year! I get into the holiday spirit by baking cookies, buying gifts for all of my friends and family, and of course, decorating! This will be Sean and my first Christmas together as husband and wife, so it’s very special, and we’re looking forward to hosting an ugly sweater party with a white elephant gift exchange—so cliché, but so fun!

Off to an Event

On a typical day, I’ll usually have an event to go to. This week I was honored to co-host The Brave Collection holiday event with founder Jessica Hendricks (second from left). Her jewelry line not only provides job opportunities with above-average pay to talented artisans in Cambodia, but she also donates 10 percent of proceeds to fight human trafficking. Her mission is to celebrate bravery, and empower women across the globe. She’s an incredibly inspiring woman, to say the least. Check out her holiday collection for the perfect gift that also gives back!

And Another

On to my last event for the night! One of my favorite designers, Tommy Hilfiger, hosted a fun evening with GQ to celebrate the men of New York. The event raised money for Save the Children.

Photo Op

We enjoyed a little shopping, while sipping on cocktails, and of course, I couldn’t miss out on a little photo booth action with Sean! Makeup by me: I’m wearing taupe-colored Mac Eye Shadow ($17), Dr. Lili Fan’s Probiotic Mascara With Lash Booster Formula ($35), NARS Blush ($30) in Sex Appeal, and testing out our Wander Beauty red lipstick!

Nighttime Skincare Regimen

After a long day with several events, I like to pamper myself and my skin. First, I take off all my makeup with Créaline ($9) by Bioderma (a Parisienne pharmacy beauty gem!). Then I exfoliate with my Derma E’s Microdermabrasion Scrub ($33). Next, I apply my favorite Smoothing and Relaxing Eye Patches ($24) by Klorane and a Sandalwood Rose Mask ($54) by Pratima, which helps to purify and calm my skin. Finally, I run a bath with a few drops of my limited-edition True Indulgence Oil, which was a gift from one of my favorite organic beauty companies called True Nature Botanicals. A few times a week, before I go to sleep, I put on my True Nature Botanicals Pacific Night Serum With Retinol ($150). It’s a great way to repair your skin and stimulate collagen production.
