BTS: Here's the Product That Kept Lily Aldridge's Met Gala Pony Sleek for 6 Hours

The first Monday in May is big a one—it's the night in which every sartorially-inclined celebrity steps out on those iconic Met steps, dressed to the nines and praying for balance. This year, with a campy theme and a directive to dress "magically excessive," we were sure the beauty looks would deliver in spades. That said, there's something show-stopping about adding gloss and glaze to an otherwise minimal style. Such was the case with the creation Moroccanoil celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett crafted for Lily Aldridge ahead of her red carpet appearance.

"I wanted to give an avant-garde shape to the face and play up her strength with a high ponytail," Scarlett said of his inspiration for the look. Aldridge wore a mock-neck latex shirt beneath her dress and the sleek and shiny ponytail was a nod to that very texture. It was high shine from every angle and we're here for it. Below, find the step-by-step instructions from Scarlett himself, including the techniques and products you'll need to recreate the look.

1."First, prep the hair with Moroccanoil's Intense Hydrating Mask ($35) to keep the hair healthy and shiny. Make sure to rinse thoroughly," Scarlett recommends.

2."On damp hair," Scarlett continues, "use a dime-size amount of Moroccanoil's Treatment ($34) to provide the perfect foundation for styling."

3."Apply a dime-size amount of Moroccanoil's Blow Dry Concentrate ($28) from mid-length to the ends, and blow-dry the hair out smooth using a Moroccanoil's Ionic Ceramic Thermal Brush ($30) and the Moroccanoil's Tourmaline Ceramic Hair Dryer ($220)," Scarlett says.

4."Once the hair is fully blown out, flat-iron with Moroccanoil's Professional Series Titanium Ceramic Hairstyling Iron ($192)," Scarlett instructs.

5."Spray Moroccanoil's Luminous Hairspray Medium ($24) onto a boar bristle brush and brush through the hair, gathering in a slicked-back, high, tight ponytail," he says.

6."Secure the ponytail with an elastic hair bungee, then run through the ponytail with a comb and flat iron to ensure the hair is stick straight," Scarlett adds.

7."Wrap a black silk ribbon around the ponytail to disguise the hair band," Scarlett concludes, "and finish the look with Moroccanoil's Luminous Hairspray Medium ($24) to provide a long lasting, weightless hold."
