If you’re not familiar with actress and all-around cool girl Laura Harrier, it’s time you put her on your radar. The 28-year-old actress and model made her debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming and recently starred as an incredibly fierce activist in BlacKkKlansman. She’s also modelled for the likes of Urban Outfitters, Garnier and L’Oréal, so it’s safe to say she knows a thing or two about beauty. Into the Gloss recently caught up with Harrier to discuss her beauty routine, and it was the part where she talked about her favourite products for hormonal acne that piqued our interest.
Luckily all the products she recommended are available in the UK. Clear skin, Harrier says, is just four products away.
“I’ve recently been struggling with acne, which is new for me,” Harrier told ITG. “It’s been really shitty. Maybe it’s happening because of all of the travelling, or maybe it’s hormones or whatever.” Harrier frequently uses this gentle clarifying cleanser to help smooth the skin texture and fight blemishes. The product contains bark, which exfoliates and breaks down blocked pores. It also contains repairing antioxidants derived from chamomile and centella asiatica to sooth. These ingredients help heal skin damage and prevent free radicals from ruining your complexion.
Simply lather this on damp skin to remove makeup and impurities.
Harrier, clearly a fan of IS Clinical, relies on the brand’s cult Active Serum (our editorial director swears by it too) to help fight blemishes. As well as her skincare routine, she revealed that she books in for regular visits with facialist Shani Darden: “I text Shani pictures of my zits all the time like, ‘Help meee!’”
Like much of Hollywood, Harrier uses this retinol by Shani Darden. The gentle retinol option reduces fine lines and wrinkles as well as discolouration, in addition to boosting collagen and helping skin to look tighter and younger. (Sold!)
This calming anti-blemish mask relies on chamomile to soothe the skin. This gentler solution will calm the complexion without leaving it tight and irritated (thus making it the perfect addition to a blemish-fighting routine). It’s packed with clay to help draw out any impurities and is another one of Harrier’s favourites.
If there’s one product Team Byrdie is obsessed with, it’s Dr. Dennis Gross’s Alpha Beta Peel Pads. These exfoliating pads work to gently slough away at dead skin cells using a combination of five alpha and beta hydroxy acids. When used regularly, they’ll tackle enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, redness and acne. No wonder Harrier loves it too!
