Update: Though the process was painstakingly documented via Snapchat, it turns out Kylie Jenner's new icy locks weren't entirely intentional. "I actually didn't mean to go platinum," she told People StyleWatch at the Kendall + Kylie Collection NYFW pop-up shop earlier this week. "I really wanted a nice, honey dirty blonde and when we started bleaching it, it got so light so fast and I was like 'Wow, my hair is not damaged, I can do this.' So I went for it." Aren't happy accidents the best kind?
Jenner's dramatic new look is so successful, it may have even inspired Kendall to take the plunge. When People asked the model if she would ever consider going blond as well, her answer was "maybe." We'll take it.
See how Kylie's full transformation went down below.
Kylie Jenner tends to take a noncommittal approach to beauty, particularly with her hair—typically, her ever-changing locks are the result of expertly-placed wigs and extensions. This is what really allows Jenner to embrace her chameleon status, as trying on a new pastel hue every week would destroy even the glossiest Kardashian mane.
So it's with this in mind that we were so surprised to learn that Jenner actually, really went platinum blond yesterday, just in time for New York Fashion Week—and of course documented every step of the daylong process for Snapchat, lest she get any mumblings of "pics or it didn't happen" from conspiracy theorists. (In other news, what a way to spend your Labor Day—sitting through several processes of hair-lightening definitely qualifies as labor, in our opinion.)
And here's the kicker—in true Kylie form, she thought about changing up the color while in the middle of getting it. "Honey or platinum?" she asked her millions of Snapchat followers. So, which hue did she land on? Keep reading to see how the entire process went down.
And the final verdict?
Platinum it is. We're loving the ashy tone of this hue—and can't wait to see it make its official debut. Want to give your own blond an icier wash? Make sure you're using a purple conditioner (we love Davines Alchemic Silver, $30) to target any brassiness.
