Prediction: This Is the Next Big Hair Trend, and It's Not a Color

Updated 04/29/19

Thanks to Kim Kardashian West, 2017 is officially the time for long hair, and we're not just talking a few extra inches—we're talking long. That's right, the reality star has killed the short hairstyle trend by wearing her hair in a waist-grazing, pin-straight style. And she's not the only one who's after long, shiny tresses. Over on Pinterest, glossy hair is currently trending and seeing thousands of re-pins—and it's all of long hair looks.

When we spoke to Chloe Ascott, master stylist for London salon Hare & Bone, she wasn't surprised. So far this year, she's noticed more clients wanting to grow their hair, rather than go for the medium-length style that took over 2016. "I have got few clients who are growing their hair already for the summer," revealed Ascott. "People are already so in the loop these days, so it's all about healthy hair and how can they help grow their hair quicker."

There you have it; the Kimfluencer strikes again. And it's not just Kim: Other A-listers are getting in on this new hair length. We've seen both Jessica Alba and Jourdan Dunn wearing this impossibly long hairstyle trend too. So how exactly can you achieve this style? Whether it's via extensions or by keeping your hair healthy, we've got just the tricks you need to do your hair the Kim K. way.

Keep scrolling to see how Kim Kardashian West, Jessica Alba, and Jourdan Dunn are doing this look, plus how to get your hair looking the same.

Another celeb getting in on the long-hair action is Jessica Alba. We've seen her with short hairstyles and long, and she always looks amazing.

Jourdan Dunn is also a chameleon when it comes to her hair, but we particularly love this look on her.

Long Hair Method #1: Extensions

If you're thinking of getting hair extensions, make sure you have a consultation with your hairdresser first, recommends Ascott. She also suggests that it's worth considering if you need them in the first place. For example, do you have fine hair? If so, you might not want to add any extra tension on already fragile hair.

Essentially, do your research, and go armed to ask your hairdresser a lot of questions. And make sure they definitely don't use glue—they shouldn't be using that as all great hair extension brands use keratin bonds. Long Hair Method #2: Natural

It isn't easy to make your hair grow faster, but there are a few methods we've tried and tested before. For starters, your scalp health is vital, so ensure that it's in top condition by using a daily scalp toner and a weekly stimulating mask.

But if you'd rather go down the natural remedies root, there are solutions, such as using rosemary oil and egg yolks as hair masks. Lavender and peppermint are also great (in diluted quantities) for the scalp too.
