Kiernan Shipka has been one to watch ever since she stole our hearts playing the precocious Sally Draper on Mad Men. Now, she's grown up and attending award show red carpets with fresh-faced makeup and glowing skin. Take the Critics' Choice Awards, for example. The event took place yesterday in Los Angeles, and Shipka arrived sporting her trademark look (which is one we never tire of, by the way). Our favorite part had to be her petal pink lip color, which complemented her flushed cheeks and retro outfit.
Thankfully, we have the scoop on the exact products that her makeup artist, Lauren Gott, used to achieve that glowy, monochromatic pink perfection. And the whole look was created using Dior Makeup products.
"The color palette for Kiernan's look was inspired by retro-chic Palm Springs pool parties—think cotton candy clouds and azure skies," Gott said. That's why she reached for one of our all-time favorite Dior products: the lip glow. "I applied Dior Addict Lip Glow, focusing on the bow of the lip and dispersing color outwards for a stained, sheen, and painterly effect."
This tinted balm is hydrating and moisturizing, so it's never uncomfortable to wear, no matter how long that may be. It also offers a sheer wash of color, which basically looks like your lip color but better. Speaking of color, if you're surprised that the shade Shipka is wearing is technically purple, you're not alone. We assumed it would be one of the brand's soft pink shades. The unexpected hue is probably due to the fact that each formula reacts to the lips' unique chemistry, thereby creating a customized tone depending on who is wearing it.
That's also why these tinted lip balms are universally flattering.
As for the rest of her rosy makeup look, Gott used Diorskin Nude Air Luminzer in 001 Holo Pink ($56) and Diorskin Rosy Glow Awakening Blush ($44). Please excuse us while we try this very springtime-reminiscent look out for ourselves. Winter is here, but who says we have to act like it?
