Fashion week is about the designers, but it’s also about the models. Oh, is it about the models. One particular model we’ve had our eyes on is the sultry-eyed, cheekbone-endowed Kenya Kinski-Jones. Sure, her last name is proof she’s no stranger to the spotlight (her mother is actress Nastassja Kinski, and her father is music mogul Quincy Jones), but it wasn’t until recently that the platinum-haired model started earning cred among the fashion crowd, thanks to a little brand named Calvin Klein. The label recently tapped her to front its denim and watch campaign alongside actor Will Peltz (who also happens to be her real-life boyfriend). This past fashion week, Kinski-Jones sat front row for Tommy Hilfiger and Suno, with surely more shows to come this season.
Never ones to tire of learning models’ beauty secrets, we caught up with the model via email during one of her rare free moments and asked her for the beauty essentials she swears by during this super-cold, exhausting time. Keep scrolling to see her answers!
BYRDIE: What are some of your NYFW beauty essentials?
KENYA KINSKI-JONES: Bioderma Micellar Water ($18) because it removes makeup so quickly and thoroughly, Glossier Milky Jelly ($18) because it’s really gentle and doesn’t strip all the moisture out of your skin, and Carmex Lip Balm ($5), which is the best for cracked lips from the cold wind.
BYRDIE: For you, what's the #1 challenge beauty-wise during NYFW?
KK: Getting enough sleep!
BYRDIE: How do you keep your skin in tip-top shape after being covered in makeup for all the shows?
KK: I keep wipes with me to take makeup off on the go so my skin can breathe. I love Simple’s Micellar Water Makeup Remover Wipes ($6) for that.
BYRDIE: How do you look awake when you don’t feel awake during fashion week?
KK: Lots of water and Dior Lip Glow ($33) in Coral.
BYRDIE: What’s your hair routine like during NYFW?
KK: I like the individual hair mask packets you can get at Duane Reade for less than a dollar. The Keratin Protein Treatment ones are good. They’re great to treat your hair after all the wear and tear.
BYRDIE: What’s the one essential you count on to help you survive all of the fashion week parties?
KK: My booker Jeremy showed me this genius product called Still Standing ($28). You spray it on your feet before going out for a night in heels, and it helps stop your feet from aching. It really works; I’ve done it every night.
BYRDIE: After a long day of shows, what do you do to unwind?
KK: A hot bath, if I can.
BYRDIE: What’s the first thing you do after your last show?
KK: Get a slice of pizza!
