With Mother's Day rapidly approaching, we thought it fitting to showcase some of our favourite inspiring mumma's. Last week, we spoke to the delightful and hilarious Rachelle Rowlings, and today we're chatting with Sydney publicist Kelly Muller. Aside from being the driving force behind her own marketing and consulting agency, K.M.C, Kelly is also the mum to the beautiful Sunny Marlow.
Below, Kelly reflects on how her beauty routine has changed, her dream Mother's Day wish list, and the lessons she hopes to pass on to her daughter.

How has your perspective on beauty changed since you became a mum?
Now that I am a mum, I am far more conscious of what I say and how I say it when it comes to beauty, health, weight, and everything else that could be impressionable to my young daughter. The female body is truly incredible—from growing and birthing a baby, to survival on less sleep than ever imaginable, right through to its natural healing abilities. Pre-Sunny, I suffered terribly from IBS and post-baby, it's almost like my body reset itself. I still have a few issues relating to gut health but nothing like before. Beauty to me, is more than what you see at face value. More than ever, it is kindness, empathy, acceptance, confidence.
What about your beauty routine? How is it different now to what it was pre-baby?
I have always had a pretty simple routine—cleanse, moisturise and occasionally a serum. But post-baby, I started working with The Clinic, so I could really understand my skin and what it needed. Once the hormones leveled back out and I stopped breastfeeding, I found that my skin really lost that glow. Sleep deprivation also caused a loss in laxity and my skin was pretty dull. I had never really invested in my skin from a treatment perspective before, but post-baby, I realised just how much brighter and confident it made me feel when I did. I now have regular blueberry peels, have had IPL to help with pigmentation and most recently, had Ultraformer which really plumped up my tired skin, all of which I support with a very simple skincare regime.
What’s one beauty lesson you hope to pass down to your daughter?
My grandmother is 81 years old and still has such beautiful skin. As a kid, I watched her apply Nutrimetics moisturiser morning and night many, many times and I used to think that was her secret to great skin. But much later in my life, I realised it had nothing to do with the products she was using, it was about who she was on the inside. My gran is kind, genuine, honest and brave and I think these attributes reflect beauty more than what we look like ever will. I hope I can pass down to Sunny that she is beautiful because of who she is, not because of what she looks like. I want her to know that she is capable of doing anything and that she is so, so loved. My hope is that will lead her to believe in herself and her abilities and that she won't ever question how beautiful, powerful and magical she uniquely is.
What's your dream Mother's Day wish list?
I'm coveting a Deiji Studios Sleepwear Set because beauty sleep is so important and these will make for the comfiest sleep ever! A voucher from Comma Spa is also on my list. I have recently moved to the Byron Bay area and am dying to book in for the Equilibrium. Le Labo Santal 33 because I have heard such great things about it and I love the bottle as much as I love the sound of the scent. I've got my eye on the 100% Pure BB Cream. I suffer from perioral dermatitis so am looking for an every day natural option. It was featured on Man Repeller, and I love Leandra Medine, so I am sold. Lastly, I'm after a new Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, because what Mum doesn't want to look fresher, tighter and brighter?
What beauty products do you swear by for every day?
I have long been using Cosmedix Benefit Clean ($70) followed by The Moisturiser ($80) (which is super hydrating and fast-absorbing), but thanks to the perioral dermatitis, I am trialling Sans[Ceuticals] Goji Body & Face Cleansing Oil ($58) and Activator 7 Face Oil ($59) which I really like so far. I love Tarte Aquacealer Concealer ($37) for under my eyes, Goldwell Just Smooth Thermal Spray Serum ($19) if I have time to blowdry my hair and always wear ModelCo Lash Xtend ($22).
What’s the best advice you have for other new mum's this Mother’s Day?
Take a moment to soak in the fact that you are a mother. It truly is the biggest blessing and if you're anything like me, you probably don't stop often enough to really comprehend the enormity of it. I have never felt love, success or contentment like I do now.
