Confession: We have to admit that we're just as intrigued by Joanna Gaines's makeup routine as we are about her spotlight-stealing home designs. The Fixer Upper star can do no wrong, so when we learned that Gaines shared her makeup bag staples on her Magnolia blog, we were definitely interested.
Judging by her television appearances and photos, the designer seems to favor a markedly natural appearance, sticking to roughly the same makeup look no matter what the occasion. She doesn't want makeup running down her face while demo-ing a house, after all.
"My makeup routine is pretty straightforward, and I try to keep things pretty simple," she writes. "The great thing about Fixer Upper is that I'm able to do my own hair and makeup on the go. This is actually my choice and I don't really love to have a team of people swarming me to touch up my blush and 'shine spots.' I just carry around a pretty basic little bag of makeup to get me through the longer filming days."
A routine that's simple, natural, and we can do it on the go? Sign us up. Not to mention, it's also budget-friendly.
Every girl needs a good pair of tweezers on hand, and Gaines is no exception. "In case I find a stray," she writes.
2. Oil-Absorbing Sheets
If you have oily skin, you know the struggle of shine spots is real. Gaines tackles them with these drugstore blotting sheets.
3. Mineral Powder
It doesn't surprise us that Gaines doesn't wear a heavy foundation. Instead, she opts for a more natural mineral powder. It's "coverage without that heavy, caked-on feeling," she writes.
4. Brow Wiz
Gaines tames her brows with this Anastasia product, which she loves because it "stays on all day!"
Just because you don't often see her with a bold lip color, doesn't mean she's not wearing a little something. This MAC lipstick is "the best long-lasting nude lipstick" Gaines has found.
"My tried-and-true favorite," Gaines writes. "One of our show producers knows I love this so much that she sent me over 100 of these for my birthday last year." There's no such thing as too much beauty back stock, after all.
7. Lip Balm
When Gaines isn't wearing lipstick, she reaches for this soothing balm. "I hate having chapped lips, so I always have this in my bag," she says.
Finding that right shade of blush that gives you color without making you look too clown-ish is a challenge, but Gaines has got her tried and true classic. This Lancôme product is "a great shade of neutral blush."
