J.Lo has been officially winning since she released her epic single "I'm Real" in 2001. Will you ever be able to get over her iconic pink velour tracksuit in that music video or is it just me? The singer, actress, mother, and businesswoman recently announced her first-ever makeup collaboration with Inglot Cosmetics. To say that we were hype when we heard she was dropping a makeup line is an understatement.
She should trademark "Golden Goddess" because her stunning makeup has been serving bronzey realness since before highlighters became a worldwide phenomenon. We're glad she finally took the plunge into the makeup world. It could be for selfish reasons because we're dying to get that J.Lo glow, but can you blame us?
Her collection features 70 makeup products, including everything from highlighters, eye shadows, lipsticks, bronzers, and more in an array of textures and shades suitable for all skin tones. Think: warm, glowy, neutral, and daring. All products are available today on JenniferLopezInglot.com. I got my hands on a few products from her coveted collection that even rapper Cardi B. Instagrammed about. I blasted J.Lo's iconic song on my speakers, sang along, and simultaneously did a full face of makeup with the products below.
I started off by swirling this bronzing powder all over my face. I used it more as a foundation powder, and it gave my skin this luminous, airbrushed finish. It delivers lightweight coverage, so it successfully blurred the uneven areas of my skin where I suffer from hyperpigmentation. I will definitely be keeping this in my bag all summer long.
I moved on to my eyes. I'm obsessed with warm, neutral shades that look like a second skin on my eyes because it brings a monochromatic appeal to my bronzed skin. J.Lo has many options to choose from. For my base, I dusted this caramel-colored hue across both of my lids.
I intended for this makeup to be an everyday makeup look that I can take from the office to a day party—because I'm a 20-something living in one of the most exciting cities in the world—can you blame me? To spice my eyes up a bit, I applied a hint of this pearlescent shade at the inner and outer corners of my eyes.
Of course J.Lo has a good black mascara because her lashes are always strikingly gorgeous in every photo. I have falsies on right now, so I applied this to the bottom set of my lashes for extra drama. This skinny, thin applicator made it easy, and so far, so good—no raccoon eyes in sight.
Highlighter is arguably one of my favorite makeup products. J.Lo, who is deemed the queen of a sun-kissed glow in my book, did not disappoint with this warm palette. I took a fan brush and swept it across all three shades because I couldn't pick just one and figured I might as well have fun with them all. All I have to say is that I haven't been able to stop snapping selfies and videos since the stroke of this highlighter beamed my skin all the way up to the heavens above.
I went all out and put even more of this gold illuminator on the high points of my face: cheekbones, bridge of my nose, and my Cupid's bow. It gave my glow this lit-from-within look that seriously makes me want to commit the ultimate makeup crime and sleep in my makeup because taking this off will be so sad.
Finding nude lipsticks for women of color is one of the hardest tasks to date—shades end up looking too chalky and ashy against my deep complexion. However, J.Lo solved all my woes with this rich chestnut-colored brown that looks like my lips but better.
To add a bit of dimension, I applied this dusty pink to the center of my lips. I love the slight ombré effect.
I finished my makeup look off with some added shine. I'll be honest and say that I usually keep things very matte in the lip category—but the way this creamy gloss plumped up my lips has me rethinking things. I've been wearing it for hours and my lips haven't felt sticky once.
In the name of beauty, I did the honors of taking a selfie because what's a full face of new makeup without a photo to prove it? I'm obsessed with how dewy and luminous my skin looks. All the shades worked perfectly on my dark skin tone. So now I'm adding this collaboration to my honorary list of beauty brands that are doing it right when it comes to shade inclusivity. Bravo, Ms. Lopez.
You know I had to test the light and see how the sun catches on. Let's just say that the J.Lo glow-up is real.
