Could You Handle J.Lo's Diet?
As with Gisele Bündchen, we can't say we're too surprised to learn J.Lo is devoted to the art of healthy eating. (Music video moments like this usually aren't the result of copious amounts of Ben & Jerry's, ya know?) But while trainer extraordinaire Tracy Anderson famously helps Lopez tone those taut muscles via intense workouts, abs are "made in the kitchen," as the saying goes—while both are important, diet definitely outweighs exercise for a toned-looking figure. And J.Lo isn't just toned—in fact, she appears to be aging backward.
Which is why when Anderson revealed a typical day of eats in the life of the singer/actress/icon, we immediately snapped to attention. Sure enough, Lopez eats a diet rich in veggies and low in processed foods. "It's all organic and it's all very well thought out, with the balance of very high-quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food," says Anderson. "Everything is fresh. There's nothing processed—just [protein powder] in a shake if we do a protein shake one day."
Want specifics? Us, too—check out a snapshot of Lopez's meals below.
Lopez typically starts the day with a protein shake and decaf coffee.
Next up, she'll usually have a "veggie-heavy" salad with lean protein. (She likes salmon.)
Her final major meal of the day usually consists of some kind of whole grain, like quinoa, as well as more lean protein.
Sleep is naturally very important to the busy star (and mom), so she always makes sure to bank seven hours per night. As for her workouts, she relies on strength training three to four times a week to keep that figure in such good form.
While Anderson insists that Lopez doesn't beat herself up about the occasional indulgence, there are two things that never touch her lips: coffee and alcohol. (Tomatoes, on the other hand, appear to be okay.)
