Flawless, glowing skin is one of those ever-elusive attributes that often feels limited to A-list celebrities and models. I mean, have you seen Jennifer Lawrence’s complexion? Either she has superhuman genes (which is probably true either way, tbh) or her facials are serious. Seriously life-changing.

So when it was revealed the Oscar-winning actress visits leading New York dermatologist David Colbert, M.D., to get ready for the red carpet, I knew I had to book an appointment. Colbert developed the Triad Medical Facial, a three-part treatment that boasts both immediate and monthlong results. It sounded like a tall order, but one that may just work as well as its reputation suggests.

The treatment starts with microdermabrasion (which feels sort of like a cat licking your face). Strange, yes, but not uncomfortable. It buffs and polishes the skin with a stream of fine crystals (chic) and gently removes old, dead skin cells. The first phase was not only short—it only lasted about five minutes—I also barely felt a thing.

Afterward was a quick dose of laser toning—a warm sensation reminiscent of five minutes spent sunbathing. (Which, during the winter, was not unwelcome by me.) The process works to energize the skin, even pigmentation and texture, and stimulate long-term collagen production. Again, I'll take it.

Finally, the esthetician applied a gentle chemical peel that left behind a fresh, young radiance and silkiness that reminded me of all those Hollywood complexions. I had done it! My skin felt tight and beautiful, but over the next few days I actually saw the results of the cell rejuvenation and collagen stimulation with my own eyes. No downtime, nothing. I woke up the next morning, looked in the mirror, and I kid you not, I was glowing. I had scored that elusive Hollywood glimmer and the 20-minute facial made all the difference.

But wait, there's more! Over time, and ideally with regular application, The Triad works to reverse wrinkles and photodamage and prevent the development of pre-cancerous lesions. Which means that it's not only great for a your skin's look and feel, but also for your health. It's a win-win-win—and I'm certainly going back for more.

If you can't make it to NYC, try Dr. Colbert's namesake product line ($65-$165) to achieve celebrity-level results without leaving the luxury of your own home.
