Jennifer Lawrence has become something of a national treasure. With her impressive film roles, activism for equal pay, and hilarious sound bites, we’re basically smitten. Oh, and that hair.
Lawrence is known for her outspoken nature—her unfiltered candor on the topic of food and body image is wildly refreshing and, frankly, necessary in the weight-obsessed society we live in. Yes, world, she eats french fries and pizza. And, thanks in part to great genetics and a hardcore fitness routine (courtesy of Twenty Two Training founder Dalton Wong), she also has a rockin’ bod.
She spoke on the subject to Harper’s Bazaar: “I would like us to make a new normal-body type,” she said. “Everybody says, ‘We love that there is somebody with a normal body!’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t feel like I have a normal body. … I do Pilates every day. I eat, but I work out a lot more than a normal person. I think we’ve gotten so used to underweight that when you are a normal weight it’s like, ‘Oh my God, she’s curvy.’ Which is crazy.”
Lawrence continued, “You have to look past it—you look how you look, and be comfortable. What are you going to do? Be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That’s just dumb.”
So, in the interest of being honest with myself (and you), I’m not going to tell you that I don’t love to eat fatty foods. Sometimes our cravings get the better of us, and when that happens, it is best to give in and really enjoy every bite. But when the meal is over, the best way to get back on track is with a great workout and regularly scheduled program of fresh, whole (unprocessed) foods.

“Time to hit the barre after those chips. A barre (or even Pilates) class is the perfect go-to after these guys. The strength training will build lean muscle and burn calories in class and way after.
“Barre is a good option, as Doritos provide no real nutrition, so there is no energy to properly sustain a high-intensity workout. The focus is more on core strength and smaller isolated movements, but it still burns a lot of calories and activates your muscles.”
