We love the multi-tasking product trend that's swept the beauty industry, but this tip from Erin Parsons, lead makeup artist for Maybelline New York, backstage at Jason Wu’s Spring/Summer 2021 show was completely new and unexpected in the best way possible. If you're at all into the faux freckles trend, keep reading.

The fake freckles we spotted dappled across the models’ cheekbones and noses were created using none other than a matte lip stain. To achieve the look Parsons used three products: Maybelline New York SuperStay Matte Ink Coffee Edition ($9) in Espresso Enthusiast and Chai Genius, and a flat bristle brush. For that sun-kissed glow without the vacation, she flecked the product onto the skin creating easy and natural-looking marks. If you’re trying this at home, you’ll be pleased to learn your new faux freckles are mask-proof too.
The vibe Jason Wu channeled was the tropical and balmy feel of one of his favorite destinations, Tulum, which obviously called for no-makeup-makeup. “When you’re on vacation you don’t really wear much makeup,” Parsons explained. For all those dreaming of tropical locales here’s a full breakdown of how she achieved the whole look. For subtle but defined lashes she layered on a coat of the classic Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara ($7) in clear and feathered the brows with Maybelline New York Brow Ultra Slim Defining Pencil ($8).

For an even base, she applied Maybelline New York Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation ($12) and for that undeniable glow she skipped highlighter and applied Maybelline New York Cheek Heat Gel-Cream Blush in Nude Burn and Maybelline New York City Bronzer ($10) across the nose and cheekbones. Last but not least, instead of a lip color she embraced a natural lip with a beauty staple: lip balm. Maybelline New York Baby Lips Repairing Lip Balm ($5) in the sheer Quenched was all that was needed. Can you say "quarantine fall beauty fantasy fulfilled"?
