Jaime King is one of those beauty icons who just keeps getting better, ceaselessly inspiring our favorite beauty looks, whether it's a bold lip or a '30s wave. So when we caught up with King at the Hudson Jeans photo booth at FYF Fest in L.A. last month, we couldn't help but inquire about her beauty secrets, starting with the question of the most recent thing she purchased for her beauty bag. "Oh my gosh," she responded. "I kind of went on a little spending spree."
"Little" might be an understatement, as we quickly realized when King walked us through product by product. Her beauty haul covered everything from silk pillowcases that promise to maintain your blowout to her personal foundation cocktail to a lip palette she uses to pull double—even triple—duty. By the seventh or eighth item on her list, King admitted "I know I'm saying a lot of products," but she explained her last beauty buys happened to be a big haul. She was traveling, and she didn't want to have to think about it.
"Always make sure that you have products and things that you love in little containers so that way it's like that's your travel bag," King says. "It's one less thing to stress out over, and it's all there and ready for you."
Head below to see every item Jaime King bought on her last beauty shopping spree.
"That day I bought silk pillowcases—which I found out about from [Violet Grey founder] Cassandra Grey," King began, recounting how Grey had sent her a beautiful silk eye mask. "It's called Slip. It's amazing." She bought two of the Slip pillowcases, and then she bought two more later on that day, saying how it's a game changer when you get your hair done. "Your blowout stays, your hair stays, you don't get wrinkles on your face … it's so much better for your skin," she explained. "When I say it changed my life, it changed my life in a really big way. It just made everything a lot easier, and it just feels really cozy and comfy."
"Then I got the Tatcha body and its serum that's really amazing."
Skincare is a priority, especially when King is traveling.
"And I got the Tom Ford foundation stick—that I use as a concealer—that I really love."
"And Koh Gen Do, the Aqua fluid foundation. I've been using Koh Gen Do forever. Nobody knew about Koh Gen Do, so I was so happy when people started using it," said King, going on to call it the foundation she lives for. "So I use that—I mix two together, and I use that for my foundation," she explained. "When I'm filming, I use the ones from the tube because there's more coverage."
"I bought the By Terry concealer stick, which is good for highlighting."
King's go-to brow pencil is a fail-safe favorite.
"I love Serge Lutens, so I bought both of the compacts. It's the red compact with all the different reds, and then there's a neutral compact with four different neutrals. By having that, you can use it for your blush, you can use it for your lips, you can mix and match it, and you can use the nudes for your eyes. I'm all about efficiency when it comes to stuff like that—like what can you toss in your bag and make it efficient?"
King purchased a couple of Charlotte Tilbury's lip liners. "There was a red lip liner and a pretty berry lip liner," she recalled.
"I'm obsessed with her powders, so I got one of her compacts. They're great travel staples."
"I can't live without La Mer, so I always make sure that I have my La Mer eye moisturizer and face masks."
"[This brand has] great moisturizing masks for your face. My trick—I don't care, I don't wear makeup to the airport—I make sure my skin is clean, and then when I'm traveling, I put the La Mer mask on and just chill," she explained. "And by the time you get off, your whole face is just radiant."
The final product in King's haul is "like a honey mask for your face," which she explained can also be used to cleanse.
